Nike Fuel Band versus Fit Bit

Hello:
I'm looking to get some insight on these two products. I currently use a polar FT7 hrm but the chest strap is very irritating and sometimes makes cuts and rashes in my skin, especially when I sweat alot. So I'm looking for another investment. I am leaning more towards the fuel band simply because I already use the nike plus app for jogging and walking and I don't know if the fit bit will sink up to that app or not. Any insight?

I prefer the fitbit because it attaches to my bra and i can forget about it. i am not a watch or jewelry person so the fuel band would probably drive me a bit crazy :)

The thing is a heart rate monitor (HRM) is totally different from a Fitbit or Nike Fuel band. The HRM is programmed with your personal stats and records your heart rate during a workout and figures what you are burning in that time. The Fitbit, and I believe the Fuel band also, are only to track steps and give you an estimate of how many calories you've burned based on your stats. I have a Fitbit One and love it because 1) it's a fun way to monitor my steps and I think it's very accurate, 2) it's cute, 3) it'll track how many flights of stairs you climbed in a day (just interesting info) and the Fitbit can also track how you sleep at night by putting the gadget in a little wrist cuff.

I don't know if the Fitbit will sync up with Nike Plus app, you'll have to look into that or see if someone else knows. But to wrap it up---a heart rate monitor I believe is a must for someone trying to lose weight and it really helps me in my journey. A Fitbit or Nike Fuel band I think are just fun ways to stay motivated. :) Oh, and the Nike Fuel Band is a lot more expensive if I recall and I've seen more people rave about the Fitbit than the Nike Fuel band.

Edited because I forgot to add:

I too wear my Fitbit One in the small spot on my bra between my boobs. Totally forget about it and I got the burgundy colored one so I see it even on my black bra. Also, if your HRM strap is rubbing you might look and see if you can extend the strap out or if they offer a different sized strap. My Polar HRM has a S-XL strap and M-XXL strap as options.

I have and use both. The Fuel Band is more convenient, a great conversation starter and does what it claims *but* it does not synch with MFP (a Nike proprietary thing prob). The FitBit integrates to MFP and adjust your exercise calorie points automatically. For that alone I like it better but still wear the Fuel band.

FitBit will not synch to Nike Plus. The Fuel Band is about $30 more than the FitBit.
  • I like the FitBit One because I don't like having something on my wrist all the time. Like a few others have said, though, an HRM is measuring something different than a pedometer. I use the FitBit to measure my basic day-to-day burn, and a Polar to measure burns on actual exercises.

HAHA you took my long winded response and condensed it down so much easier! :)

I wear a nike fuel band 24 by 7 unless I am taking a shower or swimming. My husband does the same with a fit bit. The fit bit has more syncing features and tracks sleep as well. I like the black nike fuel band as the white one can get dingy looking. if you google "nike vs fitbit" there are quite a few reviews on the subject.

I don't eat back all my exercise calories - so I really am just looking for a consistent measuring device of my entire day's activities. I think it just comes down to which one you would most like to wear - a bracelet or a clip on .
  • Another competing website can take your nike fuel information and use it since they made the information more available. But, the competing website's other functions were way below MFP, so I still use MFP. Just waiting for MFP to integrate the nike fuel band information.
