Incorporating exercise at my desk job...

I love being active, but sadly I have to sit at a desk all day.

I exercise when I get home almost every day but I want some simple things I can incorporate at work.
For instance, every time I get up to go to the bathroom I do 25 squats while I'm in there... 4 times throughout the day, that's 100 squats that I can fit in without taking much extra time.

Does anyone else have clever ideas like this so I can fit more into my day? (another ex: Doing calf raises while I'm doing my makeup or waiting for something to print.)

Do smokers get smoke breaks? If so, claim to be a smoker, and go take short walks or go up and down the stairs. I had a coworker once who claimed to be a smoker so she could get snack breaks, I could see it working here too.

I do bathroom squats too! :)

I also make sure to take the long way around whenever I have to go anywhere. I work at a food bank, so we have a huge warehouse. If I'm going to my boss' office 5 rooms away I'll go down the back stairs, walk through the warehouse and up the main staircase to her office. I get a bunch of extra steps and a few flights of stairs in that way.

I have a shake weight at my desk and every 20 minutes or so I do the 7 minute workout which can be done just sitting at your desk :) It makes my arms feel strong feel like i'm not wasting the day away.

None looks at you funny for exercising on the job?

Carry heavy things up and down the stairs. Take advantage of your lunch break.

Haha no. It is a public bathroom but there aren't many people in the office so no one is ever in there.

I also do jumping jacks, jump rope (not with an actual rope), wall pushups, chair dips, v raises, lunges, punches (like, in a half squat, punch left, right, etc.), butt kicks.... um... that's all I can think of at the moment...

ETA: I forgot wall sits.

I love to walk outdoors during my lunchbreak .............but not in 90 degree weather

I put in a walking DVD (Leslie Sansone) and shut the door.........MP3 player makes it nice & quiet
