I keep bombing out :(

I've run out of food ideas to the point of sheer frustration. I've seemed to have pin pointed it to my mornings/breakfasts. Seems if i am not FULL full in the morning my day just bombs out calorie wise. I can't eat eggs every single morning and 2 frozen waffles with sugar free syrup and fruit doesn't cut it for me after my first hour. I've up'ed my fiber intake to the point of eating mostly carbs and whey protein shakes hold me for a whopping 45 mins -1 hour if im lucky not to mention I drink water all day and rarely have soda/diet soda. I also work a desk job which doesn't help BUT... i dont sit at my desk grazing all day which is a good thing i suppose...
I just dont' know what the hell to eat and im spending my days starving and my nights snacking too much just so i can sleep. I really wish MFP had Noom's features. Since Noom doesn't sync with FitBit (and some of their menu's are a PITA!) I am sticking with MFP... I just wish MFP were working for me a little better then not much at all
Sorry to whine ... im just lost and frustrated at this point.....and sitting here starving once again -_-
Pointers anyone? <:/

Are you drinking enough water? It could be you're mistaking thirst for hunger.0
-
i just edited my post ... I knew i forgot something about my usual day! thanks for the reply though0

Without more information, it's pretty tough to give you any pointers. My first thought is that you might be trying to maintain too large of a deficit. For the sake of sustainability, you may want to recalculate your goals so you can eat more.0
-
It's impossible to give advice when I can't see how many calories, types of food you are eating. Can you bring foos to work, in a small cooler, to keep at your desk? How often do you eat during the day? How many calories. Maybe start by opening your food diary.0
-
Open your diary so we can see where you might be possibly going wrong. Nobody can offer advice without all the info :flowerforyou:0

Hi there! It's difficult to offer pointers without knowing what you're eating, how much you're exercising, etc. I can tell you from personal experience I'm rarely hungry...and when I'm hungry I eat something. Feel free to friend me.0
-
What about eating non breakfast foods in the morning i.e. potato and chicken or some other left overs.0
-
Try to have a breakfast higher in protein. One of my faves and keeps me full until lunchtime is plain non-fat greek yogurt one of the following ways:
Whey protein (usually vanilla) with berries mixed in
Honey and granola
Berries and granola
Or if you have time to prep the night before you can make a smoothie! You can add water, juice or more milk depending on the thickness you like.
1 cup of fruit (I'm a berry fanatic)
1/2 cup non fat plain greek
1/2 cup milk
1-2 scoops whey protein
Ice0 -
Try drinking lots of water throughout the day, that helps. It would also be good to distinguish when you're actually hungry and when you're just craving for food. I was able to do that through fasting. Also I found that eating crunchy food like carrots, bean sprouts etc makes me fuller for longer. And if you can, try to exercise when you're feeling hungry. Don't know if that only happens to me but when I'm hungry, I start exercising and I forget about the hunger and also don't feel the urge to eat for hours after the exercise.0
-
Hey,
If you're that hungry maybe your calories are set a bit too low? Try upping them a couple of hundred at a time (for a week or so) and see how you're managing.
Good luck!0 -
If the issue is that you don't feel satiated, eat more protein and fat in the mornings. Carbs are delicious, but don't keep you full for long. Waffles and syrups won't keep you full long. Without opening your diary, I can't offer better advice.0

how about a nice big steak?
or who is to say that you cant eat dinner foods for breakfast?
how about that?0 -
Forget fiber and carbs, have protein.0
-
I get you, I am trying to switch it up too......I Took my one daily egg and wheat bread and started making french toast.(skim milk)/ Jenny O turkey sausage. I recently acquired a taste for low cottage cheese and throw in some walnuts. Some days when I dont feel like cooking I make a smoothie. Banana/strawberry,whey protein, low fat milk. Hopefully I will discover something else soon....0

I have had steak and eggs.....0 -
Why can't you eat eggs every morning? I basically do.
Without seeing your diary, I can't really give much in the way of advice, but it sounds like you need to up your protein and fat. Avocados, nuts, Greek yogurt, etc. are all filling foods.0 -
Oh hey everyone ... thanks for all the replies! Im still fairly new to MFP ... how do i open my diary?
And to answer some questions:
I work a desk job
I can bring food to work but we don't have a kitchen/break room or a fridge. (It's microwave city. -_- )
I was catching myself grazing at work for awhile so i stopped bringing snacks and packed lighter lunches since I sit all day
Yet work is where i am at my hungriest
I hate to admit but yes, carbs are the bulk of my meals largely due to my job and all it's restraints. I am allotted 30 mins for lunch and not a second more. so FAST is the name of the game sadly.
I was trying to use whey protein in place of the crap lunches i was forced to eat .... yeah, no. lol
Hope this helps alot of you ...thanks again!0 -
Im a newb... I dont know how0
-
Ahh haa! ... i think i figured out the great diary mystery ... It's unlocked (I think) :^D lol0

You need to start eating protein and not so much candy. Candy is not going to keep you from feeling hungry all the time. Canned tuna doesn't need to be refrigerated, neither does a sandwich, for that matter.0
-
Definitely include protein at breakfast because it keeps you full. 2 eggo whole wheat low fat waffles are 150. Instead of sugar free syrup, which adds nothing nutritious to your day, try either a tbsp of peanut butter (around 100) or part skim ricotta (you can sweeten it with sweetener or some all fruit jelly) and some berries on top. Either of those options is under 300 calories and you get food that keeps you full.
If you need a new thing with eggs, spray a regular sized muffin tin with Pam, pour 1/4 cup egg substitute in each hole. Bake in the oven for 12 minutes at 350 or until the eggs are just set but not dried out. These eggs are just the right size to make an egg sandwich (canadian bacon or turkey bacon would be good on these too!) The eggs will keep for about 5 days in a ziploc in the fridge or they can be frozen. It takes 30 seconds in the microwave to heat them up.
Hope that helps you. ) Don't give up. Breakfast is definitely the 'gateway' meal. A good breakfast will lead you into a healthy day, a bad breakfast... not so much.0 -
i have a dannon light And fit yogurt greek 2x protein and a string cheese pretty much four out of five weekday mornings. fills me up. once in a while ill add 7 almonds to eat with the cheese. super yummy.0
-
Definitely a lot more protein!
some sausage links and egg whites with half an english muffin can be a pretty good and filling breakfast! Also some kind of bars to help with snack that have protein? or fruit like a banana. Those are easy to bring to work0 -
wholegrain crackers with cheese at morning tea time.
Or a yoghurt.
give yourself morning tea and it'll help you through.

Doesn't protein make you less hungry, maybe add more?0

I don't want to be harsh, but it would be a miracle of you weren't bombing out. Your diet is largely made up of foods that leave you low on protein and macronutrients. On top of that, the sugar and refined carbs are wreaking havoc with your blood sugar, raising it high for a short time, then sending it plummeting, which makes you feel starving.
Your way of eating needs an overhaul, but overhauls are tough, so try changing things a little bit at a time. Move away from so many refined carbs and sweets and toward protein, vegetables and whole foods (potatoes are carb-y but they're very satisfying for most people.). Start the day with protein, doesn't have to be eggs, can be cottage cheese, yogurt, regular cheese, chicken, fish, whatever, but real food with protein. Add a veggie if possible. That should get your day off to a better start.0 -
Egg muffins are a great breakfast food. I package them in ziplock baggies (2 per Baggie) and keep them in the fridge. Toss a bag in my purse each morning, drive to work, then microwave them for 30 seconds. You can make them with basically anything but I like to use turkey sausage, bell pepper, and cheese in mine.
I also agree to cut out the candy. Sugary snacks are tasty but they can actually make you MORE hungry. Nuts don't need refrigerating and are easy to store in a desk drawer. They've got protein and tons of good fat to help you feel satisfied. You can also look into protein bars. I can't do pure protein bars (I hate the texture), but I love Natire's valley dark chocolate and peanut protein snack bars, and the Life Choicr Wellness Bars are tasty and not too bad on the carbs with 11g of protein.
You can also take fruit, like apples, bananas, or clementine oranges to work without needing a fridge. They won't help add fullness, but they're a sweet treat that is healthy. I often have a piece of fruit and 2oz of almonds as an afternoon snack.0 -
Another thing that will fill you up is fibre.0
-
From looking at your diary, you need three course meals, small servings of each food group at meal time and leave the junk food out. You will feel more satisfied throuhout the day. Also, you should snack on fruits, nuts, raisins, etc. between meals.0
-
I would suggest dropping the artificial sweeteners for a few days. Try to replace your sweet tooth cravings with fruit when you can, and cane sugar products in moderation when you can't, add a glass of 100% , no added sugar, (insert your favorite yummy fruit here) juice to your breakfast. Try some chopped up berries on your pancakes.
Just looking at the diary and what you are describing, I think you might be having a blood sugar issue, and artificial sweeteners aren't helping there. go for naturally sweet things, bananas and certain apples can be a great sweet tooth appeaser, and they travel pretty good, (as long as your work commute doesn't involve high speed car chases, explosions and elephant stampedes)
I'd suggest that, and also the adding more protein that everyone else is suggesting. (I'm still trying to get more protein into my meals and got a lot of great suggestions from everyone on that just the other day, so definitely try some of the suggestions, they helped me, I got to only 4 under my protein number today with everyone's help!)0
