Why would it be unhealthy? You will be ripped at 10% and still be healthy. Thats where you would want muscle mass to have definition on your body.

Depends how you do it. If you eat 500 kcals a day and do 2 hours of cardio, then it's stupid. If you eat slightly under your TDEE and train appropriately expecting results in the long run, then it's sensible.

I maintained that consistently for several years (before I had kids) as a woman, and was totally healthy (never even missed a period, was able to conceive, etc). I'd think it's definitely possible as a guy.

Yea i am planning to cut 10%cals from my maintenance level.Should i be lifting or just do some cardio, light exercise that you can do at home?I don't know if i could get down to 10% bf with diet and small workouts alone so i guess i should bulk while lifting and stuff then cut?I am 18 too so consider that for any health issues.

Its not unhealthy, but a waste of your potential. You might just want to see your abs, your choice.

10% body fat for athletic young males is not really pushing the envelope. It's pretty normal for running sports and basketball.

Making a decision to eat lower calories may be a waste of potential, as Ironman said. Body is at an amazing time for gains.

I mean potential for overall development of my body also height,if cutting down a 10-20% calorie for a short period of time like 1-3 months, will it have any effect on my development and stuff like that?

As far as I know the only detrimental effect (as others have mentioned) is that you won't be utilizing your potential to gain muscle.

At your age, you'd be better off working to gain muscle mass now, and cutting BF% down later. You'll look better in the long run that way.

But as long as you cut in a healthy way and don't under eat, I don't think it's unhealthy at all.

You made another thread with basically the same question the other day.

Yes it can be done healthy. No, it will not stunt your growth.

It also takes dedication with a very meticulous diet; most collegiate and professional athletes are in the 12-15% bodyfat range. You'll need to read a book or two on bodybuilding if you want to get down to 10%.
