After months of daily MFP I hit my GOAL of ***140**** (after 3 kids)....So I dipped off MFP and maintained VERY well , till about 8 months ago one day I was 142, a week later I got sickkkk with gallstones....Gallbladder erupted , had surgery, by the time my recovery was over (while eating healthy!!) I gained 51 pounds(YES 51 in 8 months !!) !!!!!!!!!!!!! was released to normal activity then injured the arch of my foot!!! SO I'm back ....NOW with no gallbladder its hard for me to eat foods with any acidic what so ever...I logged for yesterday and today...no running still due to foot BUT ill get back to 140 in no time at all My diary is open for all suggestion's !!

I'm sorry to hear that you had such a fall after getting so far! BUT, don't lose hope, you now have the tools to do it so it'll take some time to restrategize and get into the groove and you'll be back on track. I know my mom had her gallbladder removed and she gained a lot of weight. Since th gallbladder stores bile and such you can't process food exactly the same way that you used to which can cause the weight gain if you don't adjust your eating accordingly. Check with your doctor for things that you need to modify, or even a registered dietician if you have one available to you. I know you can't process fats the same way. Don't lose hope you can do this!0

I would highly recommend a few things. First, do not do anymore 700 calorie days. Two, I would also recommend doing a combination of weight training and mild cardio. And third, adjust macro's to get enough protein. I suspect you should be around 1700-1900 calories, so macros would be around 40% carbs, 30% protein and fats. But if you want to post your height and a workout routine, we can run numbers.0

But you're back now. So welcome back. I'm sure you will again have success in meeting your goal.0 -

I am 5'2 , I walk 45 minutes a day up and down hill with double stroller and stay very active with 2 toddlers home all day with me0 -
I agree with the suggestion of 40% carbs/30% protein/30% fat. No carbs is ridiculous and is not sustainable long term. I can't imagine why a doctor would recommend that. I also had my gallbladder out and had some issues initially, but they do work out eventually.0

Yes. Diets simply do not work!!! We are all on here because we have learned they dont - you should eat 90% healthy 10% is ok eat junk and just simply workout and stay more active :-)0

Generally, with people without gallbladders, they generally need to eat a lower fat diet, since it's job was to break down fats. In fact, if my wife eats a high fat diet, she immediately has to use the bathroom. Several other of my friends without gallbladders have the same thing. If anything, I would definitely not suggest a low carb diet. I think your doctor gave a bit of bad advice, but that is my opinion.
BTW, I would suggest eating 1600 calories for your base calories. If you workout, then add another 200-300 calories.0 -

Because otherwise I wouldn't mess with my kidneys on a high protein/low carb diet. You don't want them to get stones too.
Definitely eat more! how long can anybody eat that little without suddenly falling off the wagon? For the result of this terrible extra starvation you're probably only going to lose an extra 1/2lb a week anyway.

Maybe your doctor doesn't know what a carbohydrate actually is?
A lot of people think that "carbs" are a synonym for processed, nutrition-void sugary/bready treats. And if pressed, they wouldn't have a clue where the energy from, say, an apple, comes from - "apples are healthy! apples aren't carbs!"0 -

You should be able to maintain a normal diet after surgery. This all depends on any comorbidities that you may have like diabetes, cardiac problems, hypertension etc.0 -

What kind of bp medicine are you on? Metropol or something similar? Also, as you lose weight, your blood pressure should improve. Also, do you have any other medical conditions because not having a gallbladder and on bp medication?0 -
