Capri pants after Labor Day?

Yep, I wear them as long as the weather is warm enough. I don't do white after Labor Day though (I think that "old" rule has stuck with me since I was a child)!
Wear what you want and what you like! The hell with everyone else!0 -
Depends on the capri and how you're wearing them. Those baggy, frumpy, shapeless, elastic waist things that my elderly neighbor wears with a glittery bedazzled sweatshirt, orthopedic shoes, compression stockings and a fanny pack when she goes to the casino to play the penny machines, look bad on everyone. Ones that are fitted and worn with cute shoes look perfectly fine.
Hahaha! I can totally picture your neighbor when reading this. I am thinking she may wear a visor also?
I say wear what you want. No one cares as long as its not too revealing for work (which capris obviously aren't)
My husband hates capris in general, but I have a couple pairs that fit well and he actually says they're all right. So yea...fit has a lot to do with them looking good.0 -
Being that i am in Florida where we are lucky to get 2 weeks of cooler weather i wear them and shorts all the time past Labor day. Where what you want...who cares what the date is really.0
-
I rarely wear white pants or shorts whether it's before or after Labor Day, but that's just because I'm messy.0

Wear what you want when you want to wear it. Who cares what anyone else thinks?0

I am still wearing shorts. And capris, although they make my legs look stumpy. I'm also still wearing tank tops. It's still over 100 degrees here. It's too hot for long pants. There is no way that my wardrobe will be governed by a calendar. I won't wear long pants until Halloween probably.0

I do; wear what you want when you want - who wrote these rules anyway?? PFFTTTT:grumble:0

I've kinda stopped wearing capris, period. I feel like they may age me a bit.
With the changes in my body, I need much shorter, tighter capris than a size 16 is usually cut. Or they just are not flattering at all. When I was a size 22, 5'8" capris were extremely flattering on me but now I am in a loose size 18 and they are not.
These days I tend to just opt for full-length pants for work/dressy and then shorts the rest of the time. Which for me is actually a NSV because I have a spider bite scar and 2 tattoos, and religiously covered my legs at least the thigh, knee, upper calf area, for years until very recently :-)
When I was larger I wore capris up until probably October. I live In southern Missouri and it stays pretty warm here until around that time or even longer.0 -
No, and for the love of God, no flip flops or open toed shoes either. (In Canada at least).
It's the best season of all..boot season!0 -
If it's warm out why not?
I really honestly have zero issues with what anyone chooses to wear. I will wear open toed shoes/sandals/flip flops if it's a nice warm day out. I will wear shorts, capris and whatever the hell I feel like wearing if it's a nice, warm day out.
I will also wear white after Labor Day.
I'll wear short skirts, tight shirts, knee high boots, over the knee boots, platform heels and whatever I feel like wearing because I personally don't care what someone thinks about my choice of clothing or what 'rules' I'm supposed to be following when it comes to fashion.0 -
As long as they're not white.
Why not white. I wear white anytime. As long as I am paying for my clothes I do what I want, not what is dictated by others.
The "white rule" is not longer really a rule. It used to be that they said you couldn't wear white after labor day unless it was winter white. That's not true anymore.
Rock the white!0 -
If you like them, then you should wear them - that whole "dressing based on arbitrary calendar dates" went out in the Victorian era, I'm not sure why it's still a thing.
But you're wrong about them looking good. They're a terrible, awful monstronsity of a pants. Like their spiritual sisters the jeggings, they make every body type look slightly worse - which is a fine and noble thing if you've got a great body and don't want to make everyone else feel bad about themselves. Otherwise, it's definitely possible to find things that are both cooler and cuter to wear. (Skirts?)
As I mentioned before I am not able to wear skirts in my work environment because I have to bend over all the time in front of people. I have a specific situation that only allows me two choices: capris or long pants.0 -
I came, expecting pics. Leaving now.0

Capri's, not my thing, unless in a workout pant (LOVE WORKOUT CAPRI RUNNING PANTS) but I say wear what works for you!
I work downtown and they make those few ladies that wear them look frumpy. I know they have dressier styles that you can dress up and all but these ladies here, have that other ladies neighbor's capris going on. Hey, at least we can dress comfy here.
I really like "ankle" pants.
Yeah, and that old "white" rule is just that: OLD. I wear what I want and look forward to slimming down and wearing MORE (or less) of it!0 -

Response: So what I think of capris are cargo pants that roll up or like my Vigoss blingy cropped jeans that I cuff. Maybe they might be ankle pants to others? I work at a high volume dive bar so I have to be covered up to avoid being raped (and by employer mandate) but I also need to look casual but not frumpy. It's also hot in there but cold outside. I live in Montana, so people don't do dressy anyway. I don't own elastic waist capris.0 -
Yes.. It's still in the 80-90's here in So Cal.0

as long as they're not white...white pants should be banned forever.0

Wear them if it is warm enough, who cares what time of the year it is. I love them myself and I'll wear them any time I can.0
-
If you like them why not. Personally I think they look goofy, but that's just because I think flood protection is overrated.0
-
I actually wear my capris and crops and ankle pants all year around. I wear them like gauchos in the winter with my knee high boots.0
-
Wore mine yesterday, and it was 80 out.0

Then what you are describing and for the work environment Capri's sounds perfect. Wear them as long as you can.. keep a blanket in the car for the ride home..
I have the opposite problem here, I live in Texas, 100 degrees outside but they keep our offices like meat lockers. ha ha My sister wears a lot of the capris that you describe and she rocks them... Happy day, hope you got the answers you were looking for! :drinker:0 -
It's a sad day in October when I finally put away my capris and flip flops until March.0

Hm, why not go for a sort of cargo capri when it gets cooler? Get something that can be tightened around the bottom and a dark colour to keep the heat in. I would make a suggestion to try shorter shorts(mid knee length, not those awful high-waisted bum flashers) with some woolly tights. Shorts and woolly tights with cool patterns are a staple for me in Autumn/Winter.
You could also try a skirt with 3/4 length leggings. I have a really cool skirt that goes just above knee high and then has a see-through part at the bottom that almost reaches my ankles so my stripey leggings peek through.
Capris and trousers can't be your only option. Experiment a little.0
