Good News everyone the Price of Chocolate is skyrocketing

So many people are now switching to dark chocolate and it takes 5 times as much coco to make the stuff compared to milk chocolate. Huge mega demand is coming from developing countries who now have a middle class who can afford chocolate and there is only so much farm land to produce it they predict in 20 years that chocolate will be a luxury for the few, kinda like history repeating itself.
The cost of butter to produce the chocolate is skyrocketing.

That is supe news for all of us who were once chocoholics , they are going to make so we can't afford. They are helping us on our way to losing fat.

    lol, wut?

That article is from 2010 btw.

Also, even if the prices did go up, it wouldn't help. I'd still eat it, so long as it fits in my calorie goals.

    this is good news.... how?

Yeah, for one I'll still be eating chocolate. Also, the cocoa itself has amazing benefits, its the cream and sugar that kills you. Besides, chocolate didn't make me fat, eating too much and not exercising did. And if you're a chocoholic, chocolate is never too expensive ;)

I was in Africa last summer and traveled beside a man who manages cacao plantations in Tanzania. The cacao industry is alive, well, expanding and providing a great source of fair trade income for Africans. So hakuna matata everyone, our chocolate supply is safe!

My buddy says now that we are not buying chocolate we should buy some coco stocks instead, the suckers will keep buying , our stock prices will go up , our weight go down it is a win win for.us. The Asian Pop ulation keeps growing they will outstrip the world demand before it collapses we should get on the gravy train.

I cannot give any credibility to any posts, or anyone who posts stories, from the OC Register and Fox News.

ETA: People, including me, will still buy chocolate no matter the cost because delicious is delicious. Cigarettes are $10 a pack in some places and people still smoke. People will pay for what they want.

Buddy isn't as wise as those guys who buy food futures in the stock market , the rich are gonna get richer for sure, they are going to clean up with the rising populations and rising demand for food and for chocolate.
There is millions to made off the next guys back, buddy says time to get into the market

This is Bloomberg has to say
Record chocolate sales are boosting cocoa demand and prices as bean supplies lag behind demand for a second year.

Output will be 129,000 metric tons smaller than demand in the 12 months starting Oct. 1, Euan Mann, director at the London-based Complete Commodity Solutions Ltd., said at the European Cocoa Association conference in Istanbul this week. That follows a shortage of 119,000 tons a year earlier. Chocolate sales will rise 6.2 percent to a record $117 billion next year, researcher Euromonitor International Ltd. estimates.

Demand for cocoa beans will jump 3 percent to 5 percent in 2013-14, Peter B. Johnson, chief executive officer of Fehrbellin, Germany-based cocoa processor Euromar Commodities GmbH, said at the conference. Futures rose to the highest in almost a year in London to 1,685 pounds ($2,674) a ton on Sept. 5, entering a bull market. The cost of cocoa butter relative to beans in Europe jumped to the highest since 2008 last month. Butter accounts for 20 percent of the weight of a chocolate bar.

The rich are always getting richer. No news there. Still not sure what this has to do with diet and weight loss though.

no hon mexico is taxing sodas hope she taxes the beejeezes out of the soda market she has 77,000 new case of diabetes each year. That is the real price of soda drinking.

Futures are about speculating on price increases in certain foods and chocolate is one of those , they predicted price increases on chocolate three years ago.

Hey now. Gravy has quite a few calories in it. Then I'm tempted to pour it over biscuits and add bacon on the side or sausage.

Mmmmm gravy, bacon. Who cares about chocolate when there are far worse traps to fall into?

I didn't eat chocolate bars from 1984-1988. I gained quite a few pounds during that time. I think I got fat from having a chocolate deficiency. Come to think of it I haven't had chocolate for quite a few months now. I better go get some before I stall or worse start gaining again.
