If you have to, practice this is front of the mirror - DO IT. "I want to be trained properly or I want my money back." Say it over and over until you are spitting it out at total strangers on the street.

If you're not happy with the service - speak up! You can do it.

Or you can tell the trainer you will follow your own nutrition plan and just want them to guide you in the workout.

I am a certified personal trainer and I would not be comfortable giving someone a diet plan. I might give someone generic advice like "start counting calories ", but no more than that. That is the job of a dietician or at the very least, a nutritionist.

The trainer's diet seems like it's to get you to goal...but then what? What happens when you reach it? Trainers aren't thinking that far ahead.

    This.

PT wants to see you get results because that's what they're being paid for. With this plan you'll lose weight quickly thus making the plan appear successful. However this looks like only around 1000 cals. Continue that long term and you would lose muscle mass, cause metabolic damage (less muscle = lower resting calorie burn) and chances are you will sooner or later give into 'cravings' (your body's natural response to starvation as it tries to get you to eat more).

Use a PT to help you meet your fitness goals. Use a dietitian to help you meet your dietary goals.

    hey all

Just started with a personal trainer and he has given me this diet plan to follow which i dotn think is very good and wondered other peoples thoughts?

breakfast - 1 boiled egg and 1 weetabix ( im assuming with milk)
snack - rich cake with light crame cheese
Lunch - chicken fillet, green veg and 2tblsp of brown rice or 5 pieces of brown pasta
    snack as above
Dinner - same As lunch and have red meat once a week and fish once a week
    Snack - Protein shake

eat every three hours, main meal should only fill one half of a plate

really not sure if i should just continure what im doing or try this?
Lol, sounds like a precontest diet plan for a competition. You gonna eat that way the rest of your life? If not, then bag it and find a plan you can do for life.

I'm of the opinion that the majority of personal trainers are clueless regarding nutrition this just reinforces that. Ignore it and eat sensibly within proper calorie goals.
Your opinion is correct. Working with many throughout my career, many adhere to much nutritional BS that's been passed around for decades.........meal timing, carb timing, negative calorie foods, etc.

thanks for all the advice, i kina though this myself about it but was thinking surley if he gave me it then it must be ok but as many of you have said seems way to low in calories esp if im working out 4 times a week doing weights classes!

Bit peeved off at min as wasnt happy with the pt session either a lot of leaving me on a machine while he went and did something but im to timid to turn round and say ' here train me properly or i want my money back'

    :-(
    Get another trainer.

I would discount most nutritionist's too since many can just get certification online without any studies in human physiology.

2 tablespoons of rice? 5 PIECES of pasta?

This "diet" is a load of bull. It's nowhere near enough food to sustain you throughout even the most lazy of days.

(Unless that rich cake is chocolate and crame cheese is frosting.)
