Hello all,
I have been on here for the last 2 years or so ... I had about 10 pounds to lose and tone up to get rid of my belly and general tone up . I reached my goal weight .. however the 6 months or so I have slipped some ... I have stuck to my running and excercise regime -but I have been unable to control snacking ... my choice of snacks is not great either ...
I know each person is different and I have had success in the past from minimal snacking ... I eat substantial meals and healthy as well - its with snacks I go wrong ... I am putting myself on a 30 day "no snacking" challenge.
Also - I dont just snack because I am hungry ... I snack even after a full meal.

I hope you will have success.
For me, not snacking is pretty easy but I think that is because I have never (even at 300 lb and not watching my calories at all) been a big "snack" person.
Maybe you have tried this...but how about logging all of your food ahead of time with no wiggle room left for snacks? And/or brushing and flossing after each meal?0 -
It depends what you mean by snacking. I plan snacks throughout my day of apples, carrots, grapes, etc to keep me from reaching for junk food. Nothing wrong with snacking if it's a nutritious food planned in your budget.0

I want to try this as well! Snacking/ constant grazing is my biggest downfall. I want to try a 3 square meals a day approach!!0

If what you mean by snacking is standing in front of the refrgerator (or freezer if it is an ice cream moment) with a spoon eating something that you don't really have the calorie allowance for, then YES, I wish you the best of luck - and yes I try to join you!!!0

Are you snacking because you are hungry, because you are bored or because it has become a habit? Try to figure out way you are snacking, also replacing your substantial meals with six smaller meal with boost your metabolism and help curb the snacking.0

I agree with this. There is really nothing wrong with well planned and well chosen snacks. I think an all or nothing challenge like this can be a total setup for failure.0 -
This sounds tough! I'll think about it....
I know what you mean about still snacking when you're full. I think this challege will help you get rid of the cravings. They do say it takes 21 days to break a habit... Good luck! You got this!0 -
A lot of people say that this has no purpose, since snacks can be healthy, which is of course true! But I think for me personally, snacks just aren't necessary. If I have a good breakfast, I don't feel the need to eat until lunch, after lunch I'm busy at work then commuting home and then it's dinner time! And I don't like eating late so don't eat after dinner. I'm ashamed to admit that the only time I snack, it's for all the wrong reasons, not because I feel hungry or deprived. This is why this challenge appeals to me!0

I agree snacking is good ... breaking up calories to 6 meals also makes sense ... But - I do it for the wrong reasons - basically when I am bored or something looks too good to resist. Especially between 3 and 6 PM... I graze around a whole lot in the pantry and the fridge and then realize I have blown up my calorie allowance and try to skip dinner . Also when I snack I find it hard to stick to portion size, I dont have a problem in my office since I am way too busy anyways .. but as soon as I come home and start making the kids snacks .. I lose it and it continues as I make Dinner.
If I can control myself in this challenge (I plan to do 30 days) - I might be able to add back a more structured/healthy snack into my daily routine.0
