I think I'm being called skinny as an insult

So, my older has always been smaller than me and has never had a problem pointing that out to me. Well, I've lost a little over 50 pounds, and in that time she has gained some. She will say things like "you're wasting away" or "lose anymore and you will disappear" but she says it in a happy voice. She has been calling me skinny and on more than one occasion I told her I do not want to be called skinny, I am getting fit. So ofcourse she just did it again "getting mighty skinny there". Sooooo trying to get on my nerves on purpose huh? OK.

You could always just ignore her........0

Or..she's giving you what she thinks is a compliment.0

I got nothin...0

Sounds like she's a bit jealous.0

sounds normal, me and siblings pick on each other all the time0

Oh, definitely.
She wants you to fail.
And she secretly wants your man, too.0 -
I feel like you are seeking drama.
Ignore or confront.0 -
It is only an insult if you let it be one. If we start worrying about what people feel about our journey in weight loss and health it is no longer our journey..0

Just shows you that people make comments when you are bigger AND when you are smaller... People just like to hear themselves talk sometimes, just leave it at that. :laugh:0

People used to use skinny as an insult to me. i was in fact extremely small and extremely unhealthy. people would say awful things, and meant them to hurt me. i even had a complete stranger tell me i needed to eat a cheese burger. i found people to be very rude.
your sister sounds like she is just trying to irritate you. if you stop letting it effect you she will stop saying those things because if youre trying to piss someone off and it doesnt work then why keep doing it?0 -
explain to her that you'd rather be called fat and out of shape.....as a compliment,0

I'm shocked at how mean she is being to you. She needs a smack down. No one should have to put up with such verbal abuse.0

Surely you jest0 -
A woman deliberately trying to irritate her sister? Why, I've never heard of such a thing.....0

NSV! :drinker:0
-
Why don't you just ask her? How are a bunch of internet strangers going to be able to tell?0
-
You should tattle on her to mom/dad.0

If one of my siblings did this to me, I would punch them in the face. How dare they!0

That's what I was gonna say... punch em in the face!!!0 -
How many calories do you burn by being unjustifiably indignant? I can't find it in the database.0
-
If she calls you a skinny beeeetch, well, then you've got something to SMACK her for.
She's trying to bug you.............................
I have 5 sisters - believe me, they KNOW how to get under my skin  :devil:0 -

stop using common sense here it's so uncalled for.0 -
Girl, you have been losing.........she's gaining some. The truth (I think) is shes a little bit jealous and that is why she makes those comments. Kind of pointing it out...........but at the same time doing it in a way that you don't like b/c it makes her feel a little better about herself. Support her and share with her what you are doing!! Try to get her to join MFP!!!! I think she's just not happy about herself and jealous of what you have done so she says those things that are complimentary but at the same time............you find them weird!!!0

OMG i am appalled at the way some of you are being so rude to a member that is truly asking a question on here. I thought we were here to support one another. How rude some of you have been would you like it if others had been this way to you when you asked a question that was bothering you. And as to the post her is my advise go to your sister tell her how you are feeling and explain to her that you want her to be a part of your journey some can't understand what we go through, and can be very heartless and seem uncaring cause they have never had to struggle with their own selves. If that does not work ignore her because apparently she is unhappy with herself if she is trying to insult you for your accomplishments0

She was being inappropriate and crossing boundaries back then, but you may not have seen it as much. Sounds like her behavior has just continued, only it's probably even more hurtful now because you'd want your own sister to be happy for you and desire your health. I'm very sorry that has been her reaction to you! Hugs and best wishes. And congratulations on your weight loss! People here are happy for your accomplishment.0 -
When my sister calls me skinny, I take it as a compliment.0
