How often do you guys weigh yourselves?
What variables(sodium intake, time of day, clothing etc) do you take into account to try to get an accurate reading?

I always weigh in once a week on the same day (I track that weight)....I usually weigh myself every other day just to see where I am but I won't track it until my weigh in day.0

I weigh myself whichever day I feel like it. I weigh myself after I wake up, before eating, before showering, after using the bathroom, no clothes on.0

There are lots of threads on this already, but lots of people prefer to do it less often. Lots of other people prefer to do it every day. The only real consensus is that however often you choose to do it, do it at a consistent time of day (usually mornings before eating).
Personally I'm in the every day camp. The number on the scale doesn't affect me emotionally. I use the daily logs of intake, burn, and weight to identify trends and adjust my own diet and exercise routine.0 -
Every day first thing in the morning. My fitbit aria scales sync with most of my apps. Seeing the slow incremental weight loss on a graph is a huge motivator. Sometimes it goes up on a particular day, but its nice to see the downward trend.0

At the moment, I'm every day, and same as teagirl - after bathroom/before food/first thing in the morning. The only reason I'm doing daily right now though is because I've been having trouble getting started (apparently not eating enough).
Once I know I'm on the right track, I'll switch to weekly. I like to think of it as strengthening my willpower not being tempted each day. Also, it's nice when a good-sized number pops up after a week of success.0 -
Same day of the week, Same time of the day, (for me, Wednesday morning between 5:00 and 6:00), same circumstances (before breakfast), same clothes (socks, T-shirt, shorts).
For me - one "official/recorded". Weigh in per week....my weight fluctuates too much hour to hour and day to day to do "official" weigh-ins mor often.0 -
I weigh myself every other week. Usually in the afternoon. I wear approximately the same outfit and take my shoes off.
I don't have a scale at home, but rather use the one at my gym on that schedule. I reached goal about three months ago and have recently had some gastroenterological problems that have caused me to lose a few more pounds, but I am still logging my food to keep on an even keel.0 -
I weigh myself same time every morning when I get up and don't worry when I am 2kg up from yesterday or celebrate when 2kg down so long as the trend is in the right direction over a few weeks. I do it so I can see over time if there is any correlation between exercise, food/calories eaten that can help me attain my goal. By doing this my weight report is up and down and could put some people off.0

My weighing routine:
Get out of bed
Go to bathroom, pray for a poopie
Strip
Position scale exactly how it was yesterday
Weigh self
If weight is up, kick scale
Weigh self again
Smile and go get dressed (or grumble...depending on whether or not the kick worked...)0 -
I guess you can say I am addicted.....I weigh in the evening b/4 bed and the morning.....the evening gives me a look if in the morning the scale will be good to me....I have to put my scale away cause I know what I am doing is not HEALTHY! Of course it is not moving as fast as I would like it to.....0

I weigh daily and record the average weekly.
When and how many times you weigh is a personal choice. If you obsess over the scale then you need to put it away. If it's just a number then feel free to use it. If you are going to post "OMG I GAINED 3 LBS YESTERDAY" then please for all our sanity stay away from the scale...0 -
I weigh myself every day, after I use the toilet and before I have breakfast. It tracks very well, and yes... it inexplicably goes up from time to time - but not a lot, and it always trends back downward.
The important thing is to look at the graph, not the number! My weekly graph usually looks pretty good (at worst... a bit flat or a slight increase - if I'm on a minor plateau). My monthly graph looks great!
If you can't get the number out of your head (it's getting tough for me, sometimes... but only because I'm close to a big milestone -- 200 lb) then weigh yourself less often, but in my mind - more data is better for you to understand your body's fluctuations - whether you're trying to lose, maintain, or gain!0 -
