    Under cardiovascular .... circuit training

If this is the right DVD .....collagevideo.com labels this circuit training 30 minutes/toning 20 minutes

If there is less cardio ...then use strength training (again under cardiovascular)

These will just be estimates ..........MFP counts run high for many people.

    I Am in to learn.

I wonder if this is right...

    1. If you are moving continuously without stopping, then that is like doing steady state cardio with your arms. Then, you can use a HRM.

    2. If you are doing an intense exercise and resting.. then the HRM method won't work.

    ---- experts... is this right/wrong/off?

    ?Thanks?

I have been dong the HasFit kettlebell workout on a youtube site. Great 20 min workout. I track it as kettlebell high intensity. For 30 min it show's you burn 457 calories

    Hope this helps.~

You don't burn that much in 30 min. Half that maybe.

when I used a HRM, my kettlebell routines burned around 300 calories per half hour. That was a routine including swings, cleans and presses and Turkish get-ups, and non KB things like mountain climbers and burpees, but mostly KB movements.

Hrms are not accurate for non cardio activities.

I put in my kettlebell class as cardio. I find that I can't wear my HRM during class because it gets in the way. I estimate between 3-4 hundred calories per 60 minutes.

I find this thread interesting as I have been putting my workout as strength. As it involves a weight I was annoyed when it said no calories burnt

There has to be some cal burn as zumba has over 900 cals for 1 hour, and when u r soaked doin 30 mins of kettle bells with a 20lb weight it would have to be 200 - 300 id think.

Snowsquall - I agree with you.

I did an experiment today. I worked out with 18 lb kettlebells today and 6 lbs. I did not stop moving once in 20 minutes. So that would be like riding a recumbent bike with my arms.

I kept my HR steady between 120 and 130 the whole time with HRM. It said I did 125 BPM

Then I went to this site:

    http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx
figured out my gross and then plugged that number into here:
    http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/net-versus-gross-calorie-burn-conversion-calculator.aspx
    got get my net.

I estimated I burned just over 200 calories in 20 minutes.

    The variables:

    My weight
    My fitness leve (VO2 max)
Power of exercise - (How much weight lifted, how high, how fast)

I hope that this helps... I have not found anything definitive.
