If it fits my calories/macros, yes!

I really want a cake or chocolate but they don't give anything good to my body. Fruits do.

You know what else doesn't do your body any good? Starving yourself. Just sayin', since you're getting judge-y about treats :)

Well, apparently pastries don't count either, at least according to the French snack thread. Oh, and they're not "snacks" either because apparently French pastries are entirely too upscale to be called "snacks." And, interestingly enough, there is upscale sugar and it has magical properties. Good times in the forums today.

I don't consume anything with sugar.. Not even ketchup. No sugar....not even fruit. But whatever works for you! :D

I do. My vice is 8 ounces of Mountain Dew for breakfast 4-5 days of the week. 110 calories.
  • i allow myself 1 sweet thing in a day and no matter where it falls, that is the only sweet thing for the day. i figure if i do this im less likely to go over board in the end.

Very good thread. It reminds me of when I was doing Weight Watchers. I wasn't on a diet just counting points instead of cals. Anyway, I ate a sweet treat every night and I lost weight at a very good pace. Now I have been depriving myself on some days even when I want it, I try to ignore the feeling but lately I have been going crazy eating everything sweet ever invented and going WAY over my cals because of this. I say its up to the person, but for me it works if I eat something sweet every day and plan it in my cals so I won't binge

    No carrots, tomatoes, bread? Wow...

If I'm in the mood for something sweet I'll fit it in. If not I don't worry about it.

Nope. No bread, carrots, tomatoes. I buy some turkey meat with >1 gram of sugar, but thats about it. I love sweets unfortunately, but its addictive and not worth it.

Yep, that pretty much describes me too. Some of my sweets are worse than others, but yeah. This week I had two Cadbury eggs, on different days.

I also consider Greek yogurt like noosa, or plain Fage mixed with fruit/nuts to be a sweet...but on those days I may have another "tame" treat later in the day too like some peanut butter and banana or a kids Clif Z bar.

Every day I have a treat. Whether its 2 custard creams, some cake, a timeout, 6 chunks of cadburies, etc etc.

Does anyone else do this almost daily? I started off with no sweets for 2 weeks and just became a MONSTER to be around! lol Now I count it into my daily cals and haven't went like a month without a daily sweet or bad food. Weight loss is still happening at the same rate.

I know its an awful habit but I have tried so many restrictive diets and have always found the sugar deprivation is what killed it so early in the game. I think I'll always have a VERY sweet tooth!

    Anyone else?

Sort of, but being sugar sensitive I can't trust myself to eat a sweet each day and stop there. I plan my sweets in and don't eat them often.

I love Coconut Diary Frozen Desert with no sugar added, as well as sugar free dipped pretzels. I have both as often as possible.

If I feel like 1, yes I will have it. Otherwise I'll end up on a binge.

I have ice cream everyday (or something similar), and meet all my macro/micronutrient goals, plus have a good healthy portion of fiber! And I've lost 121 lbs in 15 months. :drinker: My diary is public!

Dark chocolate-covered walnuts, angel food cake, frozen coconut fruit bars, fudgesicles, one snack size York peppermint patty before bed. I've been at my goal weight for nearly a year. I've figured out how to work small, satisfying amounts of treats into my plan. I do not feel remotely guilty. I'm getting my nutrition needs met and my emotional ones too.

One sweet a day? At least. It's just in how you allot your calories. I joke that I eat super healthy meals so I can have super unhealthy treats. ;)

Sweets was never really my thing. I'm more of a way to much salt kind of girl (I could eat just salt). If I want to indulge I put salt in when I make my food.

Yesterday I bought a Toffee Crunch from Gregg's.

White chocolate, white chocolate cream, toffee sauce, wrapped in shortbread. I was so stoked to get home and make a cuppa with it.

Took it home to log it, couldn't find it. Went on Gregg's website and its a whopping 471 calories. And its TINY!!!

Gave it to the boyfriend. :( Had 5 pieces of Guylian instead. Nom nom nom.

Yup! If I'm craving it I fit it into my calories. I've learned from past "diets" restricting myself to no sweets is a recipe for disaster! I figure as long as you stay under or at your calorie goal it's allllllllll good!

Sometimes, you just gotta have a milky way... or a Cadbury egg(LOVING that they do them at Halloween time now too haha). I try to fit them into my calories if I eat sweets, and not to buy them in large amounts, just one when I'm at the store and decide I want one. I bought three the other day(two were supposed to be for my boys)... the boys didn't get theirs lol. So definitely can't just have it laying around the house!

Tonight's pudding (apple crumble) will be the only sweet thing I've had all week. I've not got a sweet tooth though so I don't even think about sweets, chocolate, cake for most of the time.

Cheese....now that's a whole other ball-game. I could happily munch my way though a mountain of cheese, so I've had to avoid it as much as possible as it burns the calories up.

If it fits within your calorie goals, no harm done. I learned a long time ago that life's too short not to indulge every now and then.

Restricting sugar is like handing me a free pass to binge. I typically exceed over 100 grams of sugar a day (most of it through fruits), and I manage to stay under my calorie goals just fine. I also binge a lot less than when I actually tried to adhere to MFP's default sugar values.
  • There's nothing wrong with having something sweet everyday. Everything in moderation! So as long as you're eating healthy foods too it's nothing to worry about.

A couple of times a week I'll have a little ice cream.

One thing I find that really helps if I have a sweet craving but don't want to take a big plunge is reduced sugar hot chocolate. Or a little bit of natural yogurt and honey.

Kind of. I'm doing keto, so I made A LOT of fat bombs, which are very sweet and I have one a day to meet my fat requirements.

Yes I am. I buy english muffins and toast them. Then, I put either one or two tablespoons of chocolate peanut butter on them. I get a sweet treat that keeps me fuller because of the protein.

    I love sweets. :)
