how are you going to celebrate

As I'm approaching my 50LB milestone it got me wondering how do i celebrate it. I know that in the past i would celebrate all accomplishments with drinks and dinner. And there is nothing wrong with that, but if you go on a diet and then celebrate with something you gave up doesn't that defeat the purpose. I would like some new clothes, but I have goals of losing more weight and that would mean the new clothes i buy wouldn't fit then so i'm hold off on that. I'd like to know of any suggestions you may have and how you celebrated or are planning to celebrate.

I reward myself with things that will encourage me to keep working. New running shoes. New bike tires. More weight plates. etc.0

If I lose 20 lbs by Christmas, I am getting tattoo #3 with my income tax money! Already 5 pounds down, 15 more to go
Best of luck,

Here are some ideas - depending on your preference: a full body massage, new music to add to your playlist, workout gear, long weekend of vacation, other fitness gear to further support your goals (i.e. heart rate monitor, fancy pedometer)...you could buy a few new articles of clothing... second hand even. You deserve to have at least one outfit that fits you perfectly right now. Clothes that fall off don't show off your hard work, nor do they make you feel good. Now....go reward yourself...well deserved!0

now a fourth tattoo wouldn't be a bad idea0

I reward myself with tattoos. The first one I got when I turned 22, the second one I got last year when I lost 20lbs, and the third one I will get when I re-lose the 20lbs I lost last year. LOL.0 -

I do this at every 10 lb lost, buy workout/exercise related items for myself...but then I also periodically reward myself with fashion related items too because I find that more motivating, somehow. I feel like the exercise stuff I "deserve" more.
When I reach my first goal of 200 lb I plan to buy a really nice jacket for myself. For me that means paying full price or at least retail price (I buy 90% of my clothes on clearance or secondhand). All of my fav jackets got too big so now I am making it through with some kinda shabby ones.
Last week I bought myself some skinny jeans (first pair ever) and $7 earrings, which for me is a lot to spend on earrings. Man I am cheap LOL0 -
I celebrate all of my mini-milestones by recalculating my TDEE. I will celebrate my big milestone and goal by recalculating my TDEE and increasing my daily calories to maintenance.
I dont personally feel as though I deserve a reward for doing something I should have been doing in the first place.0 -
100 pounds ARM TATTOO0

it will be a toss up between shoes and a tattoo or maybe a trip to the casino i know what i need is the shoes or maybe just a pat on the back and keep it moving0

I reward myself with travel. I went to Disney World after the 1st 10% of my body weight lost and for my first 50 pounds gone. My reward at goal will be a cruise (already booked) and clothes. Lots and lots of clothes.
I'm proud of myself and will celebrate accordingly!0 -
I plan on getting a tattoo and a bellybutton ring0
-
My first, and likely only tattoo. Still trying to figure out what it will be.0
-
After I lose 20 pounds (10 more to go) I am going to make my first appointment to try on wedding dresses!!!0
-
I didn't really think of a reward per-se but maybe something like a FitBit or a HRM if you've been wanting to get one?0
-
Like many others, a new tattoo and definitely a new wardrobe! I can't wait to get there!0
-
New workout gear!
New clothes!
New pair of shoes!
Manicure!
Make my husband take his hott wife out on a date! (My personal fave. Hehe)0 -
I'm not a tattoo person but I will likely get my belly button RE-pierced. I got my nose re-done just recently.
My boyfriend volunteered to buy me a new wardrobe when I get to my goal weight, he didn't really expected me to be able to do it - he obviously doesn't know me as well as he thought :P He has since said he will still stick to the plan so go me!0 -
Buy all the clothes! And a bikini, even if my stomach isnt toned yet.0
-
My ultimate reward would be visit with a personal shopper and some new key pieces of clothing.
So far my rewards have been to do things I normally would never have done!
I volunteered at my local Food Bank, I did a community service walk, I hope to volunteer to clean one of our beaches and so on. These serve two purposes they are giving something back and different ways of keeping me active.
But, you can't go wrong with new shoes!0 -
First off, Congratulations! What an accomplishment. I reward myself every 10% of original bodyweight lost. Pedicure, manicure, etc. I also reward for small things that I'm struggling with...getting all my water in for the gets me a small non food reward. My big rewards are 1/2 way there...new golf clubs.0

I plan on buying a new wardrobe. And I also plan on lounging by the pool next summer in a bikini. =D
If I were you, I would reward myself with a new workout outfit. The gentleman who posted that is right on. Or new shoes, since you said you needed them! Keep up the amazing work!0 -
Great topic!
Well for me, one of the reasons i wanted to get into shape was to enjoy the things i have been missing out on! So far, for my mini milestones... i've gone camping, hiking bought a new outfit (to show of my figure and not to just hide behind my old baggy clothes). I think for my 50 I want to get my teeth whitened. It's not like i have big giant yellow chompers... but it's one of those things i've always wanted to do (for real, at the dentist) that i think would give me some confidence.
Excited to hear what you choose!0 -

I celebrate with drinks and dinner. But I haven't given up anything other than eating too much. I still eat the same foods I ate last year, I just eat less. I have a cheese course with dinner once or twice a week, instead of 3-4 times. I have one slice of toast for breakfast, not two. I cut back on the after-work snacks. I eat less meat and more veggies. But I figure that from time to time, I just need to let things go.
But then, I think of my calorie goal as a weekly target, not a daily target. Today I'm 500 calories over goal, but I'll do a long bike ride tomorrow and burn 1200-1500 calories, then aim to be 500 calories under goal for the day. As long as things balance out in the long run, I can enjoy a day of indulgence. I got fat because most of my days were days of indulgence; I've lost weight because I decided to indulge rarely and to incorporate my indulgent days into an overall plan.
Congratulations on that milestone! And celebrate however you want, just log any calories and take them into account in the long run.0 -
When I reach 70# my goal is to hike Mt. Marcy (the highest mountain peak in New York State). It is over 12 miles up. I thought the best way to mark my goals is doing something that I never thought I could do. Something to talk about for years to come. And of course i am doing it with my best friend!0

I've just started my journey, my first reward was getting a cookbook, then I rewarded myselft this week (sticking to things for 4 weeks) with a barbell, steps, weight plates and an exercise mat. I think I will continue with the weight loss assistance rewards (exercise gear, HRM, new running shoes, etc) and then add some indulgent things at the major milestones.
I am a reasonably good saver, so am definitely going to indulge in a new wardrobe, but I do think I will get some new things along the way too, if you have a lot too lose no use walking around in the same tents (even if there is a lot more room in the tent!).
I like nypa96's idea too - I had a lot of trouble keeping up with friends on hikes when camping, a couple I remember only doing half while the rest of the party got to the end (water holes to swim in). It would be nice to do the things, I know I could not accomplish before.
I have one tattoo, and I have thought about another one, so that is an option too.0 -
A pair of dream running shoes.
Since, I'm at the end of my losing journey I'll also indulge in a slice of pumpkin pie loaf by starbucks (70 pounds lost in all)0
