So hungry today...

Hi there,
Today is just one of those days where I am STARVING! It is not that TOM or anything specific to that, but I am so hungry all I want to do is eat. I generally eat 1550 calories a day, plus whatever I burn exercising. I am roughly 122 lbs. and 5'3.
Are there any foods that fill you up but can keep you low in calories?

protein items, fiber items.0

I have really good luck with protein and dense whole grains. Egg whites + toast.
If it's a really ravenous day, I'll eat a can of soup. Yes it does tend to be high in sodium, but for the calories and how full it makes me feel, it's worth it.
Trader joe's chunky minestrone = 330 calories for 3 cups
Amy's Creamy Tomato Soup = 220 calories for 2 cups
Trader joe's black bean soup = 280 calories for 2 cups.
The black bean soup is especially filling because of the protein and fiber, it's definitely not boring, I add sriracha and sometimes a little lite sour cream.0 -

Were you way under calories yesterday? It usually happens to me when I under eat the day before.0

This happened to me yesterday but i didnt overeat because i was afraid that it would lead me to binging. I had a HUGE salad with grilled chicken which really really filled me up with a 5 calorie sugar free jello and half a banana for desert and a green tea.. and that pretty much took my mind off being so hungry.
Also i think what triggered being so hungry was skipping breakfast and not eating untill 3 hours after i was awake.
Good luck!!0 -
I'm starving today and wondering if it has anything to do with the change in weather (much cooler).0

Grapes and apples tend to fill you up. How many carbs are you eating? I find if I am not eating enough carbs through out the day I tend to be hungrier between meals0

I was so hungry today, I ended up eating 2277 calories when I usually eat 1700.
Now I feel stuffed.0 -
high protein and fiber. if i am hungry a bowl of oatmeal (1/2 cup dry cook with 1 cup water) - 140 calories. mix in a tbsp pb (95 cals) or unsweetened applesauce (2 tbsp 25 cals) and cinnamon. also good with chocolate protein powder mixed in (30ish cals for half a scoop of natures bounty chocolate).
i can be full of one of these combinations for several hours without a lot of calorie damage.
seeds are also good to add to a salad, avocados are filling, cottage cheese with fresh fruit, yogurt with some granola and fresh fruit, or chicken breast chunks tossed with greek yogurt (plain) and add spices like chives, dillweed, onion powder, garlic etc on something like a piece of toast or crackers, same with tuna or tofu if you are meatless. eggs also, a couple scrambled up with a little cheese and some veggies with salsa mixed in om nom nom.0 -
Everyone is different but green leafy vegetables, cruciferous family vegetables, fiber and water can help pad the tummy to make you feel less hungry.0

I know this will sound crazy, but I have found a few foods that helped me with extreme hunger. First, try eating about 5 strawberries (fresh) and then wait 30 minutes or so. If you are still hungry, eat about 6 or 7 cashews. Something about the combination of those two foods completely takes away my hunger pains and they are delicious!!! Hope this helps and your journey is successful.0

ya that was me yesterday, i binged because of it... i think it was because i didn't eat my usual protein rich breakfast and instead just had a slice of toast. not gonna do that again.0

I always keep a batch of batter for my oat bran crepes. If I really need something I have one of these with berries, some slivered almonds and some greek yogurt. I find it very filling and it is usually well under 300 calories, decent on protein and fibre. Also the process of making a crepe I find takes up a bit of time which means I don't eat too much. I find if I reach for something that is too easy to eat immediately I will likely eat too much of it.0

I was just thinking the same thing...starving today!! But I had a horrible weekend with way too many calories so I think that this is my weekend coming back to haunt me as my body is wanting the extra calories again!! Gonna try and power through it though!0

Since I have added some serious weightlifting into my routine, I have also been starving. What do I do? I eat 5-6 meals a day but make sure I stay within my calorie limit. I tend to eat almonds, pistachios, and trail mix of nuts/raisins more as snacks.
My question to you OP: have you been working out more? That really can increase the appetite.0
