I've lost 78 pounds so far and I still have my belly but I noticed it has decreased ALOT !! I completely agree with the slow thing because I've been on this journey for almost 2 years now and I feel this pace is perfect cuz it helps my skin go along with my body. I don't have crazy excess skin and my belly is getting smaller and smaller. I'm hoping as long as I keep with the slow pace the belly will eventually be gone(:

im currently on my 4th pregnancy ....and the overhang is so annoying!! i definitely agree on genetics for the stretch marks because my first child did me in with those and then had a little more loose skin with each pregnancy. I went from being mildly overweight to a healthy weight recently the past year or so and even at a healthy weight i had the "dunlop" or whatever and i would always find pants i could comfortably wear over it. I hate that it made me look chunkier when i was at a really good weight. i always thought to myself, if i could get rid of this flab i would finally look like 135lb (which is what i was) and not 160!! lol but after this baby i will be doing a lot more strength training since i had only started doing it right before i got pregnant so i personally think if i can get my body fat percentage down, the extra skin wont be so much of a problem. Although it really really worries me the bigger i get in this pregnancy!

Thanks for the Kettle bell link. I watched it, crazy workout, looks easy enough and appears to be very effective. Will definitely be purchasing a Kettle Bell.

    Thanks again.

I just looked it up for the picture, and have never watched the video, so I hope it's good. I was asking the person who mentioned kettle bells if that's the move they meant. :)

QUOTE: "After 120 lbs of weight loss I had a significant apron which had to be surgically removed. Medical insurance covered it because in my case the apron was considerable enough to constitute a medical risk factor (skin irritation and such)."

My insurance coverage is like this:
If I had allowed myself to undergo bariatric surgery, it would have paid for skin reduction.
Since I'm doing the weight reduction on my own, I'll have to pay for such surgery.
Therefore, I'm REALLY going to do the weight lifting, hydration, and skin creams, and even body wraps
as I reduce, in order to minimize my saggy abdominal skin.

I didn't have bariatric surgery, but my insurance paid for the reconstructive surgery to remove the pannus. The requirements were a certain size or "grade" of the pannus, redundant skin and recurring skin irritations that were not responding to prescription medication, or a hernia. The treatment from a medical doctor with documented skin problems had to be for 3 consecutive months. I think it depends on your insurance coverage and some are easier to get approval with than others.

I don't have a photo of my belly at it's biggest, but trust me, I'm 5'1.5 and was 250 lbs, I was a BIG girl lol.

    Stats:
    SW: 250
    CW: 118
    GW: 115 - 110

I'm not really focused on the scale right now, more focused on toning it all up. I believe the weight coming off is just half the battle. I've lost the weight and still had a hang over tummy, I've also had 2 C sections so that muscle has been cut and to get it to go away is taking a lot of time. It's still not 100% gone but it's going down a lot and for that I'm happy. 30 day shred helped a little with it, Insanity has helped and Focus T25 has gotten me to where I'm at now.

    Hey
Just hoping some of ye lovely people who have success getting rid of the dreaded belly overhang can share yer stories and pics
    Looking for some inspiration !!

    Thanking ye in advance

Kettle bell swings, bring your arms and leg to meet in the middle. Both have helped my stomach to decrease a lot, especially the awful overhang that was belly fat.

Kettle Bell Swings, do we draw the leg UP to meet in the middle, or ??...can you please elaborate?

KB swings and leg lifts are two different exercises. Stand up straight, stomach in, arms over your head: kick your legs forward at the same time bring your arms down to meet your legs, then repeat on the right, make sure you are holding in your stomach - I normally do 15-25 as one set.

Here is a Kettle Bell workout I will be trying from next week. Instead of sprinting, I will be jogging hard on the spot for 60 seconds, you need a timer for this. The web site is: http://www.eastbournekettlebells.com/kettlebell-fat-loss.html

Kettle bell Fat Loss - Workout 1

This kettle bell fat loss workout combines the awesome kettle bell swing with short, sharp sprints and fast runs over 25 metres.

The beauty of this workout lies in the fact that it can burn a serious amount of calories in a short time frame while inducing a strong cardiovascular stimulus and really working the legs, hips, bum and core. Double Handed Kettle bell Swings - Kettle bell Fat Loss Supreme!

After a thorough 10 minute perform:-

    Kettle bell Swings 5 reps
Sprint 25 Metres and walk back to kettle bell
    Kettle bell swings 10 reps
    Sprint as above
    Kettle bell swings 15 reps
    Sprint as above
    Kettle bell Swings 20 reps
    Sprint as above
    Kettle bell swings 25 reps
    Sprint as above
    Kettle bell swings 20 reps
    Sprint as above
    kettle bell swings 15 reps
    Sprint as above
    Kettle bell swings 10 reps
    Sprint as above
    Kettle bell swings 5 reps
    Sprint as above

Cool Down: - Brisk walk and stretching for 10-15 minutes.

This workout works equally well if you happen to train outdoors near a flight of steps. The steps should take between 20 seconds and 1 minute to reach the top (ascended as fast as possible) and can be substituted in for the sprints and fast runs listed above.

    Simple and Superb!

I know the OP doesn't do Intermittent Fasting....that is fine,
But if you get a chance, read this page:
    http://www.leangains.com/2010/06/intermittent-fasting-and-stubborn-body.html

He explains why the "stubborn fat", and explains the scientific reasoning behind it.

Thanks for the link, I am seriously thinking of doing IF, maybe at the start of the New Year.

It's taken me 2 years and lots of different except uses (jogging, kayaking, hiking, step aerobics, weights, ab work) the whole time and my stomach has shrunk in proportion to my body. I actually started using a ruler against my skin under my fat overhang and measure how far out it goes and it's shrunk inches, and it's now only in the very front (directly below belly button) as opposed to having a little on the sides (if that makes sense?) there were times my skin hoy kinda dimpled but then it tihhtened up amd looks normal now. I think lots of all over body work and slow weight loss is the way to go.

I have 3 boys. What I did was eat right and do lots of Circuit Training. Jillian Micheals workouts were what helped a lot!

Im 54 in a few weeks, have 3 children , one of which was a C section and 100 lbs overweight , start weight at home was 226, start weight on MFP was 208 and current weight on MFP is 202 . After losing 24lbs my overhang is almost half gone, it has vanished from the sides to just a slight overhang in the front directly below my belly button. Most of my weight appears to be around my middle so im noticing huge changes in that area all over. The only exercise ive been doing apart from walking is to get into a yoga position called the crab where you lie on the floor and lift yourself up on your arms and legs with your face looking at the ceiling if that makes sense, then I hold that position for a few minutes , I do that in the morning and bedtime, just twice a day and its definitely helping. My overhang was sagging and lopsided and was covering almost all of the visible pubic area has now after approx 3 months of dieting and doing the crab retreated to just above this region, it has retreated to a protuding belly stage with no lower droop.

Self massage and pinching the cellulite on my stomach made a huge difference: the big lumps gradually broke into small lumps then it disappeared altogether! Massage daily in the shower or anytime. I got into such a habit of it i would accidentally do it while other people were around. Embarrassing. Walking, Abs work at the gym and as the weight went down, running helped my problem. I lost 2 and a half stone or 17 kilos i am at my goal weight and have maintained it for over ten years now.
  • I'm so glad to hear someone say that the kettlebell actually works. what size bell do you use? I just started and the 10 is too light for me but if I use the 15 lb one I get tired really quickly what do you suggest.

ITS GONE! from day 1, i did elliptical and walking, but the last 4-5 months, ive been running, and that has really made a difference. my belly has no hang, what so ever. i have current pics (well, about 2 months ago) of my belly on my facebook page if you want to take a look.

just keep doing what your doing, and if your not jogging, start jogging... made a HUGE difference for me!

Yep. I can relate. My is just about gone now due to the strength training, running, and elliptical.

OP, just keep working at it and get as toned as you can.

aside from being 100 pounds over weight, i also gave birth to 5 children, 5 separate pregnancies. i had this flap (no pics, it was too gross and embarassing) that hung over half way to my private parts. there was about 3-4 inches of "hang" there. i know, gross.

For various reasons, your solution won't work for me, but you look terrific and deserve so much admiration.
