Red wine, oh yes! I just have to try to force myself not to accompany it with cheese and stick within my calories. I could never ever give up wine (or gin).

I've been called an alcoholic but I find that term perjorative. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur!

Calories from alcohol in general make me happy. But Apothic Red blend is my jam right now:drinker:
  • I like to drink wine (or whatever else I may be in the mood for) but I try not to over do it. If I've been good and not had any all week I'll have a few on the weekends otherwise I stick to one a night.

I'm all in for wine! I've been a white drinkers - love those oaky Chards - but I'm developing an appreciation for a good red. Malbec, Zinfandel, Chianti, and others. The challenge with imbibing in the evening is that I also want to snack on salty things after a glass or two. So, I'm limiting, too. Limiting the number of days imbibed and glasses enjoyed at a sitting.

Pinot Noir, Chianti, Cabernet Sauvignon (NEVER EVER Merlot)

^^^^ YES!!! Totally agree. Along with Malbec, Shiraz/Syrah and my favorite.... Zinfandel (the dark red stuff, not that crappy rose junk).

I generally have 1-2 glasses of something most but not every night. If not wine gin, bourbon, scotch...mmmmmmm!

I love it and will not give it up - it has to be incorporated into my eating lifestyle - I want my wine so I will gladly elimnate something else - i.e. other treats not real food and I would rather work out longer than not have any

Also a fan of the reds! Argentinian Malbecs are my current favorite, but I also love Spanish wines. I haven't had any since I started my diet just over a week ago, but when I do drink, it's normally 2 glasses or so and then I'm done (mostly because hubby immediately insists on sharing). Not as big on the whites, though, and I'm enough of a rebel that I drink red with whatever I want.

So much so that a friend of mine gave me a t-shirt dyed in red wine that reads "Friends don't let friends drink white zinfandel".

Fortunately, being allergic to malt, I can't drink beer, whiskey, scotch, wine coolers, or stuff like Mike's Hard Lemonade, so I never have to worry about indulging with those. If I can't have wine, my secondary is vodka.

BTW, vodka drinkers - if you love chocolate, I HIGHLY recommend Stoli's Chocolat Razberi. OMG it is so good.

Funny... I make it but I drink rum. ????

I got into it while I was married because she would drink it. I still enjoy making it now that I'm single. I invite frineds over for a drink or I give it away. They all really like it. :-)

You sound like me OP. Now i dont feel so bad. I usually have 2-3 per night. It really does make me happy. :) But I have been debating on cutting back bc I think it is slowing down or stalling my weight loss.

I love wine, particularly merlot and pinot grigio. I've cut back the past few weeks in an attempt to lower my sugar intake.

Yeah I tend to drink more by the bottle, but I try and do more of a workout if I know I am going to be having a couple of glasses.
Only thing is I need to watch as I do tend to want to munch on snacks with my wine

Count me in. I don't snack too much, I don't drink sodas and never have dessert. Wine is my indulgence.

I *try* to only have wine on Wednesdays and weekends now, because of the calories, but if I'm in the mood, I build it into my day.

Dry whites in the summer, interesting reds in the winter. Someone mentioned Apothic red... I've been meaning to try that.

I love wine too, but I know if I have a bottle in the house I'll drink it all so I only buy it once a fortnight and do some extra exercise for the calories. It's nice to cut out alcohol for a while for health reasons too so I don't mind so much. I'm looking forward to enjoying some wine at Christmas.

My orthopedist asked me how many drinks I had a week. I said 2 to 3 glasses of wine a week, and he said "That's not enough!" I tend to agree.

Me! I've been delighted how easy it is to fit in some calories for a dry wine.

My ex. That's why she is my ex.

(As you may have gathered, it wasn't a moderate amount of wine...)

Riesling fan here too..........and a crispy white too. Oh, and of course dessert wine with dark chocolate!!!!
I save some calories to have a drinky poo on Fridays. Can't drink during the week as I drive for a living.

I am from Long Island where you can find 20 wineries in 20 miles, maybe more! Sorta like an east coast Napa Valley.
My husband and I did most of the Connecticut wine trail last year and we had a BLAST!!

    CHEERS:drinker:

I cut back on alot of differnet foods but will not give up my wine or chocolate! By the way white and wine should not be used in the same sentence. Red and Wine go together!
