Why are some people telling the girl that she needs to eat at a "surplus"? LOL..... For one women have Menstrual Cycle's, those can wreck havoc on ones blood sugar level and that is what can cause food cravings. Some women (older I'm sure) can also have PMS, which can cause depression, which a lot of people when feeling down, eat comfort food
This is the funniest thing I've read all day, and the fact that it's coming from a dude makes it all the funnier. And, why is 'Menstrual Cycle's' capitalized and possessive?
Sir... I've been having menstrual cycles for almost 30 years now. My blood sugar is unaffected. I'm also one of those 'older women' who you think suffers from depression and the need to stuff my face with comfort food. Again... no, just no.
And finally - what on earth does your post have to do with shaping/building glute muscles.

I would suggest eating clean & healthy, drink water & be the best that god designed your body to be... Jogging, walking, bike riding and some minor weight training can help build and sculpt your body and of course, your butt... look at female weight lifters butts... They all have back, and so will you, but its up to you & your level of dedication. GO FOR IT!!!

I'm with Jon. Aside from the *kitten* building benefits, hip thrusts will make your deadlifts better, especially if you struggle with lockout speed. I actually think it is a great way to teach beginners how to use their glutes instead of their lower backs to generate force from hip hinge through full extension. Sure, not everyone can start with a massive amount of weight (or any weight), but there are still biomechanical benefits to training that movement pattern.0 -

Ignore this guy. Eat protein, lift weights, eat at a calorie surplus. The butt is a muscle and needs to be built like any other muscle if you want it to grow.0 -

Was pretty sure it was a bad idea on DL day so I was pondering adding it to workout A.

I tacked them on at the end. I don't have the racks to continue with Stronglifts, and I still do them at the end of leg day.0

I had no *kitten* at all!
and i did squats with 50kg weights
donkey kicks
weighed lunges
bridges
just about every butt exercise known to man!
AND IT GREW!!
slowly but it grew!
however then i stopped exercising and all the effort went down the drain haha0 -
1) I might tell your family directly that such disparaging remarks about your body appearance do not facilitate your self confidence!
2) Round or flat booty really doesn't matter in many guys eyes, not that they are the end all-be all, if you're even straight.
3) I'd encourage you to embrace your body how it is rather than feeling like you need to fix it in some way.
4) Weight lifting to sculpt particular areas while possible, is a bit of an art form. Genetics will play some role as well in how your body stores fat, and plenty of what booty you see out there is just jelly roll fat.
5) If this motivates you to lift weights, I would note that for ladies it takes a lot longer to gain significant muscle. Stay in it for the long haul, think years, and you'll be healthier for it. You can deal with your family later. Don't accept friends that bully you about your body.0 -

Oy - I can't believe I'm about to put this out there, but here goes...
I'm a guy. I had a flat butt. I've been doing squats and deadlifts (with ham-glute raises thrown in for a while) for almost a year now. My butt isn't as flat as it was. I've been bulking for quite a while, so that's definitely "helped." I didn't set out to have a bigger butt, but it's a result of my glutes getting bigger due to the work and Caloric surplus.

I am an older woman ...so old in fact that I don't have " Menstrual Cycles " any more and I certainly do not THINK i have PMS but Hey I don't have an appendage so what do I know ?
What I do know is that for most of my adult life I have had a flat butt however since I lost some weight and began lifting as heavy as I can my behind has changed shape..It is more lifted , rounder and does not have the "underhang" that merges with the tops of the thighs if you know what I mean.
I do Stronglifts 5 x 5 and lift 3 times a week . I love squats with weights and deadlifts and they have been great for my behind.0 -
