So i saw another thread that inspired me to want to do one.. making it a goal of mine.
Any tips on how to train for one of these? ... I'm currently doing the C25K Get Running app (plan to finish it this time) and getting in the gym and lifting heavy when ever i can. literally.
I know i would feel insanely powerful and fulfilled completing one of these runs so gimmie all you can please! :drinker: :flowerforyou:

Make sure when you're running that you're not just runing a track, treadmill, or flat surface...hit some trails and make sure you have various elevations to traverse on your runs. Many of these types of runs have a lot of hills. Also practice some military style PT...you can get on the Tough Mudder website and they have some good training suggestions with this type of PT. Work on things like pull ups and pushups and lifting your body weight over stuff. If you can, find an obstacle course type of park...my gym has a nice little obstacle course and I go work that about once per week.0

Also do some research on what run you will be doing. I did a local mud run that was very family friendly and while challenging at some points was very do-able. I know some people who did not train for it and were on the beginner side of the fitness spectrum and did fine.
I'm sure a tough mudder would have been a whole different story for them and me.0 -
Go into in blindly. Im running my 3rd mud race and each year they change obstacles.0

Best advice I have is to get plenty of sleep the night before and carbo-load. Sadly, due to extenuating circumstances I could do neither the night before due to work. I ended up doing the Tough Mudder on about 2.5 hours of sleep. Not recommended. I do second the tips for trail running. This past year it poured rain for 2.5 hours (2.5 inches of rain total) during our race making the tough course even harder. And check the Tough Mudder website and follow their tips.0
