How many calories do you let yourself go over?

When you are logging your food, even if you are one calorie over, you are in the "red zone". How many calories do you guys safely let yourself go over? Just curious and looking for ideas...

I don't. Almost never. If you're not consistent, how can you expect real results?0

Well if I am really dedicated/motivated I don't let myself go over, but most days I am hungry and eat more than I "should." Now to lose a pound a week myfitnesspal makes it so you're eating 500 less calories then you burn. So I naturally burn aprox. 1800, as long as I'm under 1800 calories a day then I'm happy. (This does result in slow weight loss though.) I've set my goal to eat 1450 calories a day though.0

20-50 is meh to me, even though I try to stay under. Anything over that and I feel crappy.0
-
I try not to go over ever, but sometimes I accidentally go over if I selected the wrong entry in the database. I did that recently with provolone cheese.0

I just keep an eye on my weekly average0

depends on the day, i usually try to get no more than a couple of calories, but then again i dont log calories are too small to count, if its 3-5 cals and overuse it than i dont log it. some days when im hungry i'd do maintenance if i have to, but usually 150 extra cals if i really had to.0
-
I exercise a lot! So I dont usually go over0
-
i try not to go over by more than 50 - 100. but i also figure if im too hungry there is no harm in going over by up to 500 as that is still maintenance.0

Every Friday I weigh-in, and if I lose weight, and 90%+ of the time I do, I take a cheat day. I don't log it, but I use a reasonable amount of constraint. I'd say I go 300 - 500 calories over. If I go over otherwise, I try to adjust the rest of the week to compensate for it.0
-
I look at the week. I want the week to average out to my daily goal.
The weekly overview on the phone app gives a nice graph.0 -
I have not been over in months. I try and plan ahead. If i know im going to be eating or drinking more calories i will fit in an extra workout that day.0

Meh, don't worry about one calorie. I go over by 500-600 at least once a week, if not more often. I'm on maintenance, so I don't eat at a deficit any longer and this has not hindered my fat loss progress or made me gain any weight.
I'm 5'8 and weight 157. I maintain on 2,700 when strength training 3x per week. So, it's nothing for me to have a 3,200 calorie day. Don't fear the food. Enjoy it! Just enjoy the amount that is appropriate to your body. What is appropriate for YOU? Well, read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/975025-in-place-of-a-road-map-short-n-sweet and it will help you figure it out. :drinker:0 -
As few as possible. Honestly maybe 3 times in 9 months, and once only because I realized too late that I had mislogged something.0
-
I don't want to lose anymore weight so I've gone as high as -516 calories and i'm still losing! on average, though, i'm going about -300 calories.0

Oh I go over quite often by quite a few hundred....
Tonight is a prime example.0 -
One day I could care less. It's all about the weekly average. Shoot, I went ober 200kcals last night and still stayed under for the week. Usually have a 5-10% +/-0
-
On a day to day basis, none. I prelog and if I am going to be over, I dont eat something I normally would. Special occasions... I try not to but dont lose sleep if I go 4 or 500 over. My deficit is greater than that anyway.0

It depends. But I have been logging consistently for 3 years and I do go over by quite a lot, occasionally. Here is what I do:
As someone else said, I mostly go for the weekly average. I "save" calories to enjoy Sunday (which my dad always said every Sunday is a "little Easter" - that's why it's Sunday). I allow myself on Sunday to go up to the number of saved calories, as long as it is not more than 1000. If it is more than 1000, I limit it to 1000.
During the week it is uncommon (but not "rare") that I go over by more than 200-250. Most days I am under by roughly 100. Do the math- if I am under by 100-150 every day, I have on average 700+ calories saved for Sunday. If there is a holiday, or a dinner out or whatever during the week then I adjust accordingly.0 -
I'm set at 0.5 pounds/week loss rate, so I don't have much leeway. Plus I think my Fitbit is too generous with it's calories. So I try to stay between my goal before exercise and the number Fitbit allows. But if I do go over, I just try to make it up within the week.0

Long as I'm under for the week I'm good. I been doing a lot of trial and error so for 4 weeks I was eating at a higher cal level. Once I lowered it, it made some of my days over but still was under each week except one where I was over a total of 53 cals for the week. So in general I stay within my weekly goals but some days I'm just hungry like today. I want to eat everything in sight. Lol0

My goal is always to hit maintenance by weeks end...0 -

I just make sure I'm not over for the week (mon-sun)0 -
I don't worry about it at that level of precision on a day to day basis. I keep a rolling average of "everything" to ensure I remain at my %age of TDEE target over a longer period of time.0
-
I very rarely go over. Maybe twice a month I will allow myself to go over and never more than 100 cal.0

I look at the week. I want the week to average out to my daily goal.
The weekly overview on the phone app gives a nice graph.
This, also, especially the part about the graph on the app. I usually 'bank' a few calories during the week so that I can relax on the weekend without going over.0 -
200 calories. I'm on 1200 a day, and I promised myself when I started that if anything felt bad or it just wasn't going well, 1400 would be a no-recrimination fallback point. It turns out 1200 is fine for me -- especially since I can go over it guilt-free anytime.0
-
I'm on 1200 calories a day so I generally try to end with a net calorie of +/- 100 cals each day.
The maximum I would let myself go over is 400 calories which takes me to my maintenance level (1600).0 -
i generally don't sweat ~100-150 cals over.. it's still a deficit & i don't log walking or doing dishes or like today i did laundry (by hand) for what seemed like forever, so i have some wiggle room0
-
maybe 1500, but, I keep my weekly average as others have said... much more than that and I cant balance it out0
