Low glycemic diet and ketosis HELP

helloo everybody
could somebody explain me the difference?
i know that with ketosis you burn fat but with low glycemic do you burn only fat or muscles too?
anyway if you could explain me the differences with what happens to your body, what you need to eat and etc..

you can potentially lose muslce on any diet that envolves a calorie defecit.
ketosis is atkins, you eat almost all fat and protien (carbs under 50g, ideally close to 20g). body uses fat more frequently as a fuel.
low glycemic isn't necessairly high or low carb, its just avoiding high glycemic index carbs (like processed sugar) that tend to spike your blood sugar and produce an insulin response which can store the glucose in your blood stream as fat.
i don't think either one is going to make you lose weight if you don't eat at a defecit0 -
but if you have a calorie defict and you only want to lose fat which is the best diet?
and if you don't consider one of these two do you know any other diet that you can eat at least 40g of carbs and burn fat?0 -
Why "diet?" Eat foods and maintain a caloric deficit. Take in adequate amounts of protein (1g/lb LBM) and adequate fat (.4g/lg LBM) and lift weights and do some cardio/conditioning. Unless you have a specific disease or bodily disorder, what exactly you eat is less important for losing weight.0

yes, i agree with above. but pretty much any diet will let you eat 40g of carbs, including Keto.
there really isn't any one food or one macro that must be avoided. whatever is most satifying to you that allows you to eat at a defecit is the best 'diet', assuming your getting adaqute protein0 -

by the way i think keto lets you eat 20g of carbs but also this depents from the person so...0 -
that was the strange part, the little i've read about it, its NOT different for everyone. thats one thing that sounded dumb to me, it didn't say for x body weight, eat Y carbs. it just said 20 is optimal, and anything under 50g is acceptable (thats why i said 40 g acceptable on keto, becasue it is).
Go luck eating at or below 20g of carbs. I eat zero fruit, veggies, and obviously no grains. My carbs come exlusively from nuts, peanut butter and my protien powder. You'd have to get your protein and fat exclusively from meat because thats pretty much the only source with zero or close to zero carbs.
its doable, but it would get borring really fast0 -
at the end of the day, i wouldn't kill myself to stick to any one diet.
the only thing that really works is a calorie defecit over time. so whatever is most sustainable to you is going to work the best.0 -

Your brain needs carbs to function which is why the minimum amount of carbs you eat should be no less than about 20g/day, the rest of the body can convert to using fats as fuel. When I did Atkins I stayed on induction for about 6 weeks - problems arose with my kidneys because ketosis causes you to need to drink more water/urinate more often (carbs cause you to retain water so you will experience a period of diuresis aka water weight loss) and I was not in the position to do so while in clinical... so, I had to stop and proceeded to gain the weight that I lost back (I lost about 35 pounds in almost 2 months). So I recommend doing something sustainable for your lifestyle, you may stumble along the way as I have, but just keep trying. Low glycemic is helpful at controlling craving and blood sugar spikes/drops and I tend to do well when avoiding simple carbs & sugars. You have to find what works for you.0

fruit is fine as long as your still under 50g (20 being optimal). Same with the bread but its going to be difficult to eat an adaquet number of calories and keep your carbs down if your eating bread. i'd avoid it.
for the second question, idk.
from what i'm experincing so far, this diet is really best used for a body builder doing contest prep. i've been pissing no stop, and lossing the water weight has made a difference in my appearence. i think that, at best, there is a marginal increase in fat burn over just a normal diet at the same defecit. maybe no advantage at all really0 -
The main advantage of the ketogenic diet is blood sugar and insulin control. If you don't plan to stay relatively low carb (i.e. under 100 carbs or so) for the rest of your life then it probably isn't the best plan for you. It is important to know what you are doing with a low carb diet because not eating enough fat can harm progress and kidneys. Drinking enough water and making sure enough potassium, magnesium, and sodium is consumed is also necessary! Staying under 20 carbs is recommended because different people can handle different amounts of carbs and stay in ketosis. I can handle around 60 carbs before I get knocked out, my husband is closer to 50 g carbs. These carbs should come from fibrous veggies. It is not recommended to eat bread at all since you won't be able to necessarily get the micronutriants you need from it as you would veggies.
Any diet when you go back to eating "normally" will cause you to gain the weight back. The keto diet does not have worse stats in that area than any other diet. Once again though it should be more of a lifestyle change then a diet anyway.

but what if i wanted to lose weight (about 4 lbs of fat ) but i wss very skinny and i didnt know how so i started starving and dieting that dint fit me so the reason i gained weight was of this and not because i was eating too much (i've got high metabolism) so if i do ketogenic diet for about 1-2 months and then start eating how i used to before i gained the 4lbs will i take back what i lost

if your talking about something like spelt versus wheat then i'm on board with this. most 'whole grain' breads and cerials i look up the GI for are marginally better then thier more processed counter parts, not much difference at all.0 -
you gain weight because you eat more energy then you use.
Its not garunteed that getting off any diet will automatically cause the body to gain weight, its the pyschological factors involved that may make it more likely for one to over indulge when they 'return to normal eating'.
thats why we keep stressing that what is easiest for you to stick to is the best 'diet'.
Ideally you should eat the way you like to eat, and then adjust portions and how much you eat overal so that you eat less energy then you use. You may still be somewhat unsatisfied, but you wont have the added psychological pressure of avoid certain foods or macros that you might want.
thats the only way that teaches you to eat for long term success.
I dabble in different 'diets' because the challenge of eating a certain way helps me stay on task. plus i just like to experiment and try things for myself.0 -

Honestly, if I only needed to drop 4 lbs I don't know that I'd do it with a ketogenic diet. And keto isn't in & of itself a magical weight loss plan. It takes a calorie deficit like any other "diet".
Sounds like you would be better off with exercise for building up muscle & not being so focused on the scale.0
