    No, I'm afraid not. The District of Columbia is its own territory. It borders the states of Maryland and Virginia. It is an independent political entity, although ultimately under the control of Congress. (I hope most people know this already, but just in case:

    But it is only a few miles across, so would probably not be of much use for this challenge.

    I understand and know that it is its own "territory" however for this challenge it is counted in the state of Maryland.

    I would love to get one of those, they are just too expensive. Wish they were cheaper.....I guess its just the pedometer for now

    So this is the first I'm seeing this challenge. Do I start from here or can I add the "mileage" from the start date of this challenge?

    There is no start date, just whenever and whatever state. Figured it would be a fun type of motivation for people. You can even add more state appropriate foods to your diet while you are walking that state-texas have a little tex-mex or some BBQ/ steaks. Just keep in that calorie goal!
