Best exercise/workout

What's the best overall exercise/workout? I've always believed it to be running but is this true? I've lost 32lb since March and have about 14lb to go until in my healthy BMI weight range. I've lost quite a bit of weight from my thighs and chest (or these are the places I've noticed it most anyway). My stomach has shrunk too but I've now got a little pot belly so am wondering the best way to get rid of it? I've just started 30 day shred but I find working out so boring! Would running alone help tone up my stomach or would I have to do other exercising too? I did couch to 5k about a year ago although I didn't actually complete it and wasn't following a diet plan - I thought I could still eat what I wanted as long as I was running. I also feel I may find running a lot easier now since I've lost weight - I don't find myself out of breath when doing 30 day shred but really struggled with it before.

Losing weight is all about a calorie deficit which is best achieved through diet...diet for weight control; exercise for fitness. The best exercise is the one(s) that is going to advance you towards achieving your fitness goals.0

squat, followed closely by deadlift IMO0

In my opinion: weight training. Check out this three part thread, it is awesome: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/977538-halp-heavy-lifting-made-me-supah-bulky0

It depends ont he goal. What's your goal?0 -
I would definitely not say running. It's great for cardiovascular fitness and burning calories, but not so much for changing body composition. I say weight lifting. Any kind of strength training.0

I don't really have one! I just want to get down to my goal weight, which I'm doing through weightwatchers but also want rid of my pouch stomach and obviously just to be healthy! If I got rid of my stomach I'd be happy with the way I look now.0 -
I just completed 30DS and it has completely altered my shape. Dropped most inches from stomach and hips. Is only 30 mins so I would keep going! Am even attempting to do it again - four days in and much easier! I wouldn't say my stomach was flat but definitely flatter....0

I personally love Zumba! I also add an arm and ab workout to that. I use the 5 minute ab workout on my ipad app, and I have an arm routine. I do Zumba for 1 hour, 3x a week and I walk/jog 3.1 miles 2x a week.0

I'm going to keep going as the results I've seen look great. Just wondered if I should maybe start running too as I obviously still have fat to lose from my stomach, hence the 'pouch'.0 -

There is no particular exercise that is going to target fat from a particular area...your body burns fat from wherever it wants to when you are in a calorie deficit. If you really want to work on body composition I highly recommend getting into the weight room and just continue to eat at a small deficit. Belly fat BTW is usually the very last to go...for most people, those are primary fat stores and they are deep. I know guys who have literally worked for years with proper diet and lifting to finally get a flat stomach even though they were otherwise in great shape and relatively low BF%.0 -
Squats are the best exercise.
The best workout? I can't really answer that, but I can tell you mine is the best for what I've been personally trying to achieve.0 -
Instead of running maybe try some sprints or hill sprints0

Thanks! I think I really meant the best exercise for burning stomach fat. I know running is a good all over cardio workout so wondered if it would help burn that extra fat0
