I just had my morning coffee. :drinker:
  • This sounds almost like a failure, but I promise it's a success! Up until a week ago, I had a fast food addiction. Even when dieting, I'd still eat absolute garbage and any fast food I could get my hands on. I'd just make sure it fit in my calorie goals. My body was getting nothing good. Exactly a week ago, I got blood work back that told me I was high risk for diabetes. In my family, diabetes is a long, slow death sentence. I made a complete 180 and went from the worlds worst diet to almost as healthy as it gets.

Tonight, I didn't feel like cooking, so I went to McDonalds. Barf. I had to choke it down (which I did, because I hate to waste money). I cannot believe that after only a week my tastes have changed so significantly. I am so proud of myself! I needed that McDonald's tonight, too. I now know that I don't need or want to fall off the wagon to good health. So, kind of a backwards success, but I will take it!

These are all so awesome to read!

I just had a birthday yeterday. With a day of intermittent fasting, and working my but off at the gym I was able to go out for a big steak supper with desert and still had a 500 calorie deficit for the day. It also marked my 26th day in a row without cheating after collapsing on day 25 twice in a row.

I know BMI has its issues, but....

The scale said 145 this morning, meaning I'm officially in the (very *kitten*-end) NORMAL range for my BMI. First time in 15 years!!! Never going back to Obese again.

Finally bought a new pair of jeans today since the few pairs I own are a size 16 (uk), they were all tight on me at the start of my journey and are now being held up by a belt so they don't fall down. I took a few different sizes into the changing room and was elated to find I fit into a size 12 (uk) pair of jeans, I believe this is an american size 8 (correct me if I'm wrong). Also bought a size 12 blouse (previously a 18).

Nothing tastes better than skinny feels for me today.

these are all so great to read, it's so easy to focus on the negatives and what isn't going right that it's so refreshing to see people focusing on the positive :)

I woke up in the middle of the night last night with the nagging question of how much weight would I gain if I overate by 200 calories each day. Obviously I couldnt let the question go so I got up this morning and punched out the figures on a calculator. Results: 3500 calories = 1 lb

    Overeat by 200 calories for 365 days = 73,000

    73,000 divided by 3,500 = 20.857 ( or 21 lbs)

Yikes, amazing what kind of damage a lousy 200 extra calories could do! The only way to combat this! Tracking of course thru gool ole "My Fitness Pal" or knocking off those calorie with physical activity. I cant help but to think we are all in the right place, doing the right thing. So much for the nagging question.

Tennis shoes are in the car and I am ready to go!

I agree, this group has a lot of positive stories that is soo inpiring. I think everyone appreciates hearing these stories of success. We are a bunch of TIGERS, aint nothing stopping us now!

I've heard it said that 35% of the population that is prediabetic does not know they are prediabetic. If this group of the population knew they were prediabetic, they could be eating healthier and exercising to remove themselves from this prediabetic condition because diabetis is preventable. You are making a significant change. I know it's hard, but try to do as much meal planning in advance. I know someone who makes up a HUGE green salad in advance so they can eat greens all week long.

About one in three American adults – that’s
    57 million people—have prediabetes.

    • People with prediabetes are likely to develop
type 2 diabetes within 10 years, unless they
take steps to prevent or delay diabetes.

    • Lifestyle changes such as eating healthier,
increasing physical activity and losing a
modest amount of weight can prevent or
delay development of type 2 diabetes in
those at high risk for the disease.

    • Diabetes is a leading cause of heart disease,
    stroke, blindness, kidney disease, and
    nerve disease.

    Best wishes.

Positive thinking plays a significant role in your weight loss efforts. Perpetual negative thoughts can lead to self-defeating behaviors such as going off your diet, overeating and skipping your exercise routine. Positive thoughts, on the other hand, can increase your motivation and energy level.

Positive Thinking and Weight LossPositive thoughts are empowering. A negative attitude can set processes in motion that makes losing weight difficult, if not impossible. Berating yourself every time you eat the wrong foods, constantly focusing on what you cannot eat and approaching your exercise regimen with dread are all ways that negative thought patterns can sabotage your weight loss efforts.

When you hold a negative image of yourself, you rob yourself of much-needed energy. When feeling powerless, depressed or unmotivated, it's easy to skip your daily workout or eat a bag of potato chips to feel better. However, tuning into how you feel, acknowledging those feelings and transforming those thoughts into something more positive can actually help you to achieve your weight loss goals faster.

I started a keto diet on Friday and I've been walking about 45 minutes every day since, but today was the first day I went to the gym and worked out hard for an hour. I expected it to be miserable, but it wasn't! I think I'm officially burning fat for energy, and that's awesome.

Wow good for you! Its amazing how much better you feel I think. I have gone from 330 to 180 so far... hoping to get to 165 in the next few months. I hope you achieve everything you set out to! To me, the achievement itself is the reward!

Wow, that has got to feel so good. Thanks for being such an inspiration to all of us. It's a long road but we are all doing the right thing by getting on the scales with consistency, counting calories or fat grams or what ever it is that people like to do and reving up the exercise. All of those are key essentials. Size 14 next! :flowerforyou:

Sounds like your facing adversity. Yes, give yourself a pat on the back. It's not just about physical health, it's mental health too to take that time out of your day for yourself. I was thinking today :ohwell: [yes, thats me thinking], you cant give to others if you are so spent yourself. So take time out for yourself so you can give to your loved ones. Awesome job.

I was thinking again, yes again! Alot of people talk about low fat or low carb diets. Below is information I found that answers some questions for me, maybe it will for you too.

There have been a number of studies comparing weight loss with these two types of diets. In general, low-carb diets may result in a little more weight loss in the first 3 to 6 months. However, after 1 to 2 years there isn't much difference. What's interesting is that the amount of weight loss varies widely among people following either diet. So which type of diet you choose may matter less than whether you stick to it.

Get it . . . STICK TO IT! [that's what we do, every day, right?] KEEP TRACKING
