Hiya everyone i have used my fitness pal before i became pregnant. I havent really been watching my weight since i found out i was pregnant, but write my foods down to make sure i make a concious effort to eat well and no over induluge, please note i am not trying to control my weight gain in anyway during this time. I am now 30 weeks pregnant and have gained 18lbs, it feels like a lot to me as i lost a lot of weight in my first pregnancy, but im assured thats im within my recomended limits. Anyway, since about 29 weeks i have an increased appetite, my portion sizes have increased and i am now snacking more, trying again to make healthier choices but have given in to crisps and chocolate when ive not been so organised or when tired. But i litterally cannot stop eating i feel so hungry all the time and im now struggling to fit in any exercise, i work and look after my toddler, so any free time i want to nap. So is this normal to feel this hungry or am i going to end up pilling on a ton of weight, which i wont be able to shake off, im really worried that my stomach is getting used to all this food and i fear that i will find it hard to decrease my intake once my little one is born HELP please x

As long as you aren't eating too much you shouldn't have a problem after the baby is born. I would go ahead and start logging everything to get an idea of where you are at so you have a base line of where to start.
I breastfed my youngest. I was worried about cutting the calories when I quit so I lowered them 100 calories or a day each week until I got where I wanted. The gradual cut made the 600 calorie a day drop less dramatic even if it took a month to get there.0 -
Hi thank you, i am logging at the moment to give me an idea of what im consumming im eating about 2000 cals at the moment, some days less some days more, but it seems fairly steady. Love the idea of cutting a 100 cals a week till i figure out what works for me, i dont really want to drop my cals too much after the baby as even though i want to loose weight id rather d it slow and steady. Will try and get out and about a bit more this week and see if i can swap some of my snacks for healthier ones.0

It's ok to be hungrier now, I understand you are tired. It's great that you are trying to stick to some healthy options. Do you need more low GI or protein at the moment?0

Trying to boost my protein atm, still not hitting where i should i struggle as a vegetarian however i am eating greek yogurt, lots of nuts and some quorn i really enjoy beans and lentils but dont have these everyday. I have cut down on the white bread which i dont really enjoy anyway and have wholemeal/seeded etc more calories but more filling. Im guessing my appetite is increasing as my baby is having a growth spurt atm, and i dont want to deprive my body i dont feel like im eating out of greed but i do feel very hungry especially after breakfast and midafternoon x0

Since you're pregnant, I'm assuming that you have a doctor. I think that you should consult with your doctor because people on this site are not experts and are just giving you their opinion. I wouldn't be concerned about how much I'd weigh after giving birth. The health of your child is what's important, right? Good luck.0

So is this normal to feel this hungry
Yes. Don't panic. You're hungry because you're growing a whole other person inside you. You're in the last trimester, so that little person is requiring a bit more than before.0 -
Just keep doing what you're doing and if you feel hungry eat a bit more. I gained a lot but have lost 50lbs since I had my baby 8 months ago and have 10 more to go. I'm not suggesting you gain that much by any means, I'm just saying it to illustrate it's no impossible to lose it afterwards.0

I'm currently 34 weeks and have been doing the whole "eat every 2-3 hrs" thing for about 5 weeks now. It's helped tremendously, as hunger seems to be a thing of the past. I eat about 1800-1900 calories most days and haven't gained since I started eating this way.
I eat: breakfast -- snack -- lunch -- snack -- dinner -- snack. It's a lot of work to be prepared with all the snacks but it seems to be helping in terms of keeping my energy levels high and my hunger levels low.0 -
Ive heard the eating 6 smaller meals or 6 larger snacks depending on how you look at it is a good idea, i think i might try and have a more filling snack and cut back on my meal times to see if that will work. Just cant believe how much my appetite has increased. Im not trying to avoid putting on weight but i dont want to go overboard like i have heard people doing before, think i just got scared as i put on 4lbs last week and thought if i continue like this for the next 9 weeks im going to have an issue. Like you mention im sure my increased apppetite is needed by the baby, she must be on a growth spurt, they do say they grow 1/2 lbs a weeks atm, that must put a demand on your body X0
