I got back in the groove of wanting to lose weight a month ago. Before my break, I had been eating 1400 calories a day. I had stopped losing weight and stayed at 170 for weeks on end. I thought, maybe I needed a break from counting. I went on vacation, seeing the family for 3 weeks and weighed 185 at the end. I decided to go back to losing weight with the same 1400 calories a day thinking i would lose further but I was wrong. I lost weight up until the same 170# mark.
I decided to do some digging and figure out my problem. I came to the conclusion that I should eat more! So, about 2 weeks ago I did just that. I began zig zagging about 1750 calories a day. A week in, no results. Not even a little gain in weight that I'm supposed to see! My weight would not budge up or down.
Then, this week I've decided to take it up to 1800 calories. In 10 days I have averaged 1875 calories but still nothing! No weight gain or loss!
I don't exercise, except work 4 times a week in a position that requires me to run around constantly for 8 hours.
I'm 21yo at 5'6" and my goal weight is 140
My diary should be open. Let me know if it's not.
I'm 20 yrs old 5'5 and 138 lbs, and a few changes that I've made in the past have helped me, maybe they'll help you? I'm not perfect when it comes to these, but I'm working on it every single day.
1. Typically I'll go between 1400-1800 calories it depends on the day and how long I spend at the gym (I TRY to work out at least 3 times a week I focus on weights more than cardio)
2. I try not to drink my calories (ie juice) I try to stick to water, green tea and sometimes skim milk/almond milk. Drinking green tea with my meals helps me feel fuller without the calories.
3.Try to eat less processed food (I know it's generic) and more whole foods (Fruits and vegetables)
4.Dinner is usually my last meal (around 7 or 8 pm) and I sleep at around 11-12 at night (sleep is important for weight loss too!)
5.I always try to have breakfast be my biggest meal of the day (Oatmeal most days) and I have it with green tea (sometimes coffee with milk if I need the energy :P)
6. I did Insanity in the past (It is an intense workout, but you'll loose weight if you do this consistently)
That's all I can think of at the moment, if you have any questions I can try to help you out!
Good luck!0 -

What I got if BMR 1606
Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1927
Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 2208
Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2489
Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 2770
Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.) 3051
Pick your daily activity level without exercise and -15% to 20% (highest)
and also if possible for only 30lbs to lose recalculate every 10lbs loss and do 30/min a day for 5 days/weeks of walking or cardio . Just a suggestion..Good Luck:flowerforyou:0 -
If you weren't losing weight eating more is not the answer. The only thing absolutely "required" for weight loss is a calorie deficit. You have to figure out what your maintenance calories are, and it sounds like you did that if you went for weeks without losing or gaining, then subtract about 20%. If you are not losing, you are not in a deficit, you just have to figure out why. Good luck.
Thank you though! I will keep your advise in mind
It doesn't matter what calculator you use for anything if you are not consistently hitting the numbers it gives you. So if you have days that you ate so many calories you were ashamed to log them you can't really say you have been eating in a deficit and not losing weight.
Like I said before, the only thing that is absolutely "required" for weight loss to occur is a calorie deficit. If you're not losing, you are not in a deficit.
If you consistently log your intake, and it is accurate, and you are under your maintenance calories, it's almost impossible not to lose weight.

I'm not an expert but i understand the struggle. I want to applaud you on trying something new when you got stuck. I dont know if you should up your calories or lower them. I first thought dropping down to 1200 a couple of days a week will help if you continued on the 1400 path. I came across this site that i love. He always seem to have answers on getting over stalls. And he actually answers your questions. He sent me a workout video for free that he made once. He has tons of workouts to do at home and a lot of them are only 10 min. He doesnt jsut follow one rule of those but tries to customize the advice to the person. Hope it helps. Nowloss.com he has all types of plans. Weights will help you drop inches, but you cannot outtrain a bad diet. Maybe doing a couple days of no carbs will help. I dnt know but i hope you find what it takes for you. Whatever you do dont give up because the alternative is horrible. All in all i will say you are doing great.0
