Weird weight loss.

Hello Everyone. I wanted to make a quick post to get some insight/encouragement as I am feeling a little discouraged in regards to my weight loss. I started the end of July with a starting weight of about 332 (my scale is wonky). Currently I have lost 25 pounds, so it equals pretty close to about 2 pounds a week. My daily goal is set to 1690, this is what MFP suggests to lose 2lbs/week. I am 5’7 if that matters. I also have it set to sedentary. I do not exercise as much as I should, but I currently burn about 1500 calories a week bike riding. Although, I do not exercise every day I still eat at or below my daily goal (I sometimes have 30-200 calories left, but usually if that happens I’m not hungry anymore.)
I do weigh ALL my food; I am quite anal about it, actually.
Now, it may look like my progress isn’t that bad, but aren’t I supposed to be losing a lot more, since I have a lot to lose? Another thing that bothers me is how much my weight fluctuates.
Here is an example of the past week weigh ins.

Mon: 306.7
Tues: 307.1
Wed: 306.7
Thurs: 307.6
Fri: 308
Sat: 308.5
Sun: 306.7

I know it could be water retention, but I have been very cautious about my sodium intake. I try to be under the sodium goal. Also, I am on birth control doing extended cycling, so it could be hormones?
It’s also weird; I will stay the same for 2 weeks than overnight (literally) will lose 6 pounds.
Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Totally normal. Weight loss is not linear. You are doing great!

Completely normal mine is much the same and suddenly for a few days it drops rapidly!
  • I will just have to keep reassuring my self that it is normal, even though it may be hard!

It's perfectly normal and you could avoid a lot of the anxiety by weighing yourself once a week or once a month instead of daily.
  • I've tried doing that, but it doesn' work out too well for me. When i see a gain when I weigh my self only once a week, it freaks me out even more than if i see a slight descrepnecies during the week.

Weigh yourself whenever you want, but your weight will fluctuate all the time. That's why the little progress graphs on MFP are so helpful. I gained 2 pounds 3 days ago and lost it by this morning. I'm willing to bet it was water weight, so I try not to let any gains really hit me.
  • I just decided the other day to only record "new lows", that way I don't have to see the zig zagging. I think that will help too.

I weigh myself every morning but only record weight every Wednesday. It will give you a better overall report when you look back months from now.
