Disappointed but not disheartened

So I went to weigh last night. I usually weigh on a scale in our local Boots ( a pharmacy type store). But last night I had to go to a different Boots branch and weigh on another scale. And I gained. It wasn't much - only 200g, less than a lb, but I was still disappointed when I knew I have not been outside my calorie allowance. In fact , most days I was under it. I felt thinner, if there is such a thing, so I was approaching the weigh in quite positively.

I understand with my mind that there are variations in scales, even flooring can make a difference, but I was really hoping to lose something especially since my calorie allowance is set to losing one lb at a time, and given that I have been eating less than what I should, logically this should have happened.

Anyway, I am trying to be quite sanguine about this. I still feel like I have lost weight, and I still feel like I am going to make it. I know scales can mess with your head and so I am taking heart in that I am doing the right things. I have lost 28 lbs so far, yes I have another 180 to go, but I am in this for the long haul and one measly weigh in is not going to get me down.

Yep, different scales weigh differently, and if you're going into a shop to do it, then you have other factors such as wearing different clothes and maybe having eaten different amounts of food by the time you get on the scale. That's why a lot of people like to weigh the same time every morning either naked, or wearing the same outfit, before eating. But, you have to go with what you've got. Fluctuations happen anyway, and less than a pound is negligible. Try keeping a record of the trend of your weight over time - so look at it week by week, or every ten days. As long as the trend is going down, then you're fine.

    Lots of factors here.

1)Weighing in on a different scale that could be off, your weight is probably almost never right but the key is to maintain that amount of "wrongness" by using the same scale.

2)Could be wearing heavier clothes, tis why I weigh in my undies. I get that wont be how much I weigh in clothes but I want the most accurate number

    3) Could have nommed more food or drank more fluids. It takes your body some time to process your food out of your system, this is why I cut off my eating at 9 pm and weigh in at 11 am before I start again (I do a kinda version of intermittent fasting where I eat all of my food in 10 hours and fast for the other 14.)

    4) Water retention, need to poo. Any number of things. Don't stress it

Just to update you all - I weighed today on my regular scale with the dress I would normally wear to weigh and I am pleased to report that I have lost 3 lbs. Now I don't kid myself that between Friday and today I have lost 3 lbs, so I guess it goes to show one should be consistent to get accurate results. So 31 lbs in total, oh just another 175 lbs or so more to go...LOL
