Recovering From A Broken Ankle...

I am recovering from a broken ankle (July 2013)...I have my 2nd surgery to get the long screw removed next week so I can start physical therapy. Right now I can't do too much as far as exercise...but I would like to do "something"...anyone ever been in this position and have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Shadow boxing can be really good-- when I was in a car accident, I also found a local place that offered water aerobics.

    hope that helps

Oh, that stinks. I haven't been in your situation exactly but when my creaky joints act up, swimming is good if I don't push too hard. I also use 5 and 8 lb hand weights to work the arms and shoulders. Better than nothing, I think.
  • I had two...at the same time!!! Yes, it sucked :ohwell: I think swimming was the best for me. And I would say once you can use it, walk as much as possible. Its been three years for me and if I miss working out/ stretching for a few days I really feel them tightening up.
  • Thanks guys for the suggestions! I appreciate it a lot! I really have to get moving some sort of way! I don't know how to swim...but I do have arm weights...so I will try that. Thanks again!

Look up lots of floor exercises and any yoga you feel comfortable with. A lot of exercises have a modified form. Make sure you do all of your physical therapy. By the time I finished after having all of my plates and screws out my broken leg was stronger than my unbroken one. :)
