I've lost over 60 pounds and went from 18 in pants to currently a 10, and XL in shirts to M. I still see myself as huge. Whenever I pick up something at a store in a smaller size, I say there's no way I can wear that and go for the size 16s. Everytime.0

I always felt like I was bigger than everyone else, but I had resigned myself to being the fat lady. I really don't want to always feel like I am, especially now that I know I am not.
It seems like this is one of those things that people don't talk about when they talk about losing weight. At least not until they start talking about extremes. It's nice to know that this is a normal feeling.0 -

Not yet... i feel better in many many ways but im still not thin. 20-25 lbs from here and i'll be healthy.... heck i dont want to be thin0

I do not worry about how "thin" or "fat" I feel. I now feel healthy and that is what matters to me.
I had to come to terms with accepting my body the way it is no matter the size.0 -
I started at an 18/20. I was wearing a size 6 before my mind finally caught up to the fact that I was not fat anymore. I bought clothes that were 3 or 4 sizes too big for months before I finally had a professional fitting done. It was such a weird time. It was like going through puberty again, in some ways. My body was changing pretty rapidly. Guys were hitting on me, and it freaked me out. It took a long time for me to truly come to grips with how much I had changed.0

I am having this issue. I was 215lbs and a size 18 bottom and xxl top. I am now 127lbs and size 4 or 6 bottom (depending on the pants) and a small top. Most days, while I know I am a perfectly healthy weight, I still feel 215lbs. I am working on it every day, and its a struggle. These days now, I can look in the mirror and think I look good, and I am longing for the day that I will feel as good as I look. When I shop I automatically choose items that are obviously too big for me, but I can't get out of that mindset. Its hard.0

I was a size 16 bordering on an 18 when I started. As of Sunday I'm in size 12 (bought 2 new pairs of jeans). There are days, like yesterday and today where I feel pretty good about myself and there are days when I feel like I've gotten no where. It helps me to dress my current body in the most flattering way so that I can accept and love it as it is while I continue to treat it well with exercise and healthy foods. Eventually, mind and body will come together and be satisfied. Until then, I refuse to hate myself.0

My jeans range from US size 0-4 and I still often see myself as weighing what I did before I lost weight, or at least being much bigger than I know I am.
yep. The image in my head does not match what is actually in the mirror. Nearly 100 pounds later I still reach for bigger sizes when I'm a size 0-2. I still don't feel thin - I honestly can't articulate what thin should feel like. I feel like me - I've always felt like me.0 -
I think I sort of have the opposite issue. I have always felt moderately large, like a size 12-14 I guess...even when I was size 22/24 and 90 lb heavier than I am currently. I am now almost to a 16 (still have some 18's that fit) and I still feel like I'm about a 12-14. I was that size around the onset of puberty, and even then I did not feel small at all. I don't care if I never feel thin, but I like it that now I am starting to look like I feel, when I see photos I'm no longer appalled.0

I have gone from 386 pounds to 234, size 34 to 18 or XL. I'm not done yet, my ideal weight for my age and height is 160. But on days like today when I'm seeing people who have known me for years but because I have switched departments at work, haven't seen me much in the last 2 years, and I am getting lots of "oh you look fantastic!" and "Look at you Miss Skinny" I feel great! However the next time I try on jeans and the 18's are too tight (despite the dress pants I'm wearing right now being an 18), I will feel fat again. Or I will see a picture of myself from a few weeks ago and at the same weight and I won't like it, I will look fat to me. Or frankly, I will just have a bad day, the scale stopped moving AGAIN, or whatever, and I will feel fat and defeated.
I think once you wrap your head around being healthy rather than being a certain size or weight is when we all really start feeling good about ourselves and stop feeling fat.0 -
Well keep in mind that a size 14 or 12 is not a thin size for most women. So it makes sense that you don't feel thin at this size, because though you have lost a lot of weight, you are still likely overweight.
This is hardly true. Sizing isn't a good measure of one's health or even physique at all. There are overweight women here in 8s and 10s, and thin women in 12s. It's all based on clothing manufacturing + body type.0
