Any observations since starting your diet?

I have a few.
Breakfast: If you eat breakfast you are less likely to binge. You are also less likely to get that sleepy feeling after lunch. I think it has something to do with blood sugar. I'm not an expert.
Some foods have well more calories than you would expect; Canned baked beans, some yogurts, and canned salmon to name a few.
Cabbage soup is delicious, especially with home grown tomatoes.
A well planned meal is a beautiful thing.
Water is life.
Grilled Salmon and streak are expensive until you compare them with the cost of fast food.
I use less food. I have a loaf of bread unopened since I purchased it over a week ago. I had a 24 oz container of cottage cheese that lasted me more than a week. 3 cups of yogurt lasted me a week. I use to go through 10 in 2 days.
I think my grocery bill has gone down.
Leftovers fill my fridge. That makes life easier.
Just a few thoughts from my 10 day old diet experience.

Funny enough yesterday I said "I feel like I have more money these days??" I realized later it's because I no longer eat out for lunch everyday! I had a really bad habit of doing grocery shopping for all the things I was going to make, never made them and ate out anyway...then threw the food I bought at the grocery store in the trash. Yay for bringing my lunch to work!!0

You weren't the only one. My ex-wife and I did that way too often and especially for such poor people. I hate to even think about it.
After working all day you get tired, sometimes just mentally. You don't feel like doing anything or even want to. I believe the thing to do is plan your meals and fix very simple meals and too prepare as much as possible in advance. For instance I have enough cabbage soup in the fridge to last me for lunch or dinner at least 3 days. I prepared 2 grilled salmon steaks last night, one for last night and one for today. I made enough salad to last me a week.
Some things just don't take long to prepare. Fish cooks fast for instance.

I learned that I don't need to be on a strict diet and still enjoy the foods that I love but just in moderation/portion control.
Before a lot of my meals were high in cals and sodium. Now I make my meals where I cut it down some and it's still yummy to eat for myself and for my family (since they aren't trying to lose weight).0 -
i have definitely noticed the amount of food i have and the more money thing. im on a budget so i track every dollar and i have a $300/month grocery expense for myself and my fiancee and our fridge would STAY empty from our constant snacking. since mfp (we both use it) here it is the 22nd of the month and we JUST cracked $150 on groceries when we went shopping yesterday. and between fruits, veggies & leftovers, there's always food in the fridge. i bought a loaf of bread at the beginning of the month. it's only HALF gone. 3 months ago, that loaf would be gone in a week. if that. mfp has not only gave me a slimmer waist, but it also made my wallet fatter :-)0

Before MFP I would have gone through 2 loafs of bread in a week all by myself.

I can't say that my grocery bill has gone down, I have 2 teenage boys! Plus, buying so much higher quality food (Greek yogurt much more expensive than the store brand or Dannon on sale for example) raises the cost. But, we are definitely not eating out as much so it's a whole lot cheaper in that regard.
I have learned several things about myself though from this.
-I have an addictive personality whether it's food, exercise, computer, I become truly addicted to it and think about the activity when I'm not doing it (I am actually going to have to wean myself from this site a little bit!)
-my mother did me a grave disservice by having me join the "clean plate club"-really hard to overcome and I'm making absolutely certain I don't introduce my kids to it
-I'm cheap! I hate to waste food so if I buy something and I don't really like it, I'll still try to eat it! Or even worse, if I go to a party or buffet place I will seriously overeat because it's free or I've paid for it and want to get my money's worth
Those are the negatives that I'm working on
The positives:
-I have more willpower than I ever thought I did
-I actually like vegetables (well, some of them-peas and asparagus still do not have a place in my house!)
-I'm enjoying cooking which always used to be a chore. I'm excited to find new healthy recipes and try to change up old favorites to get my family to eat better.
Well, thanks all, this is my therapy for the day!!0
