Carbs are...?

Okay, first off, I apologize if this has been asked/answered but this eye strain headache is making it difficult to find...sorry!

My question is, when the recommendation is made to to get 50% (or insert appropriate amount here) of calories from carbs per day, does this include vegetables and fruit as well as grains? Or only grains?

    It includes anything with carbs which is also fruits and veggies.

    Ideally you should have a mixture of simple, complex, and fiber.

    Every single food is can be broken down into protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Fruits are carbs, vegetables are carbs, grains, starches, sugars are carbs
