Exercises to lose belly fat.

Hi, I was wondering what exercises are good for losing belly fat. I don't necessarily need to gain any muscle in that area because i already have a bit of definition, but my goal is to get rid of the layer of fat I have over my abs. Anything but running would be nice!

No exercises burn belly fat. Exercise is for fitness, strength and overall health. Consistent calorie deficit is what burns belly fat.

^^^ THAT
You can't spot reduce.0 -
The best exercise for burning belly fat is the one you do most consistently and intensely while not overeating. If an exercise burns fat, some of that will be belly fat. Find something you enjoy and do it often.0

Those exercises will work your abdominal muscles, but that's not the same as losing belly fat (which is covering those muscles so you can't see them). Can't spot reduce fat... the fat comes off where genetically its going to come off. All you can do is have a general exercise routine geared toward fat burning.

Just belaboring the point...you can't spot reduce. Consistently having a deficit of energy from maintenance results in decreased BF...eventually the body will take from the belly but the belly is primary fat storage...them some deep fat stores and they're the last to go generally...especially for men.0 -
Exercise is very important to improve health and fitness. Go for running, walking at least 30 to 45 minutes in a day. Practice push ups, bench press, chair squats, cable stretching and band resistance. It makes strong bones and muscles, boost energy, improve physical performance, improve heart functions and mental health and give you fit body.0

You could build some ab muscles under the belly fat with ab exercises, but it won't reduce the belly fat.
The belly is one of the last places the fat comes off for most people when dieting. My lower belly fat seems to diminish the best on low carb diets with a calorie deficit of course. Throw in some HIIT and steady state to rev things up.
You could buy a skin caliper and determine if your diet is working as you can measure if the belly fat is shrinking.0 -

Buff knows his stuff :drinker:0 -
Ninerbuff, as long as you're here:
I know exercise does not reduce fat (that's what dieting is for). However, would the aforementioned exercises be good for improving core muscles, which (while not reducing fat) should then improve general waist size thanks to improved posture?
Or to put it another way, will core exercises reduce flabbiness, if not pudginess?0 -
I swear by table pushaways and fork putdowns.0

Regular aerobic exercise and calorie deficit (but not extreme deficit-this can be counterproductive). Don't drink your calories-drink water. Stay away from processed anything. Stay with whole foods, lots of veggies... and don't carb out and take a seat. The insulin will shunt the sugar into fat cells rather than muscle if you are not using them...
