This can't be serious. Surgery counting as exercise? Do you figure out your burn during regular sleep too?

That's what an HRM is for. We're all here for the same reason.

    Again, HRM.

    Duh.

(I'm shocked at how unseriously so many people are taking this. I thought this site was for support for calorie-burning issues just like this one.)

(And if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.)

The clenching theory is nonsense because in some surgeries, they give you muscle paralytics so that your muscles are not clenched when they cut into you. Anyhow, I would think one would worry more about the outcome of the surgery than how many calories are burned. *Shaking my head here*
What makes you think these two things are mutually exclusive?

I'm thinking that it depresses your RMR slows most of your processes down. Plus youre gonna be getting a crap load of fluids. Question to ask the anesthesiologist.

That explains my sore kegel muscle when getting surgery from that hot doc. I think I clenched when I went under when I saw him walk up and then it must have stayed like that the whole time. IDK why but "god complex" has always been a turn on to me rather than a turn off. Meh, i like the power.
Would that be considered cardio or strength training?
    A fusion workout I think.

One of my cousins, in all seriousness, asked me how many calories I thought the glucose they gave her in the IV after she collapsed had. I had to bite my tongue until it just about bled to keep family harmony intact.

    isnt it 3.4kcal/ml?

Impossible to calculate unless you are wearing a HRM.

If they wouldn't let them wear the fitbit..how would they wear the HRM?

He just needs to get more creative in where he hides it.

    What they don't know can't hurt them...or him...or something.

They have a HRM on you while you're under - it doesn't show calories burned, though.

If you're completely under, they'll have you paralyzed and have you vented (breathing for you) so you'd probably burn less calores than when you sleep.
  • If you're under for a colonoscopy, can you log it as sex?

If you dream while under, do you burn more calories?
Depends on if it was a wet dream or not.

Are you normally unconscious during sex?

Not normally, but certainly there's been a time or two that, were it not for photographic evidence, I would never have remembered.

They insist on using their own, they think it's better just because it has that big screen and can make a printout. I'll have to request a printout then I can count the number of heartbeats manually.

But hiding an HRM? Don't be ridiculous.

I seriously want to know if I burned any calories while I got my colonoscopy today. Good grief, I want to know if I burned calories dancing or walking or anything else. If I go to the trouble of getting a colonoscopy I'd like to know I get some calories burned for it. Not such a crazy question unless you have never had to go through it.

Awesome question. Well your calories burned under anesthesia can be variable. If you wake up in the middle of it, you're going to burn a lot more than if you don't wake up. And the HRM is the only way to know because the doctors will erase your memory of waking up.

I'm sorry but you all have it wrong. Since you can't eat or drink anything after midnight the day of the surgery, your body will go into starvation mode and you'll gain like 15 pounds.

    duh. :drinker:

Using this same train of thought, are we saying a vasectomy is like a hand job, there for can be counted as a calorie burn? I think not!

And if you do not wake up eventually I bet you burn alot less calories
