target heart rate for cardio?

I don't understand something. All the calculators I find to establish my target heart rate ask only my age (and some, my fitness level). NONE have asked my resting heart rate. Wouldn't one need to know the resting heart rate in order to accurately predict when target rate puts me into fat-burning mode?

My resting heart rate is about 60. So wouldn't my target rate be different than another woman of my same age with a resting heart rate of say, 75?

Also, is it true that as a rule of thumb, if you maintain a good sweat, you're probably in the zone?

To find maximum heart rate (not just an average which only takes age into account), you need resting heart rate:

    http://exercise.about.com/od/cardioworkouts/ss/findtargetheart_2.htm

    206.9 - (0.67 x age) = Max Heart Rate (MaxHR)
MaxHR - (resting heart rate) = Heart Rate Reserve (HRR)
    HRR x 50% = training range %
training range % + resting heart rate = low end of THR zone

Change the 50% to 85% to find the maximum.
    Hope this helps.

    So much wrong here...

    1) HR zones are actually based off max HR, not resting HR.
    2) Fat burning mode is marking bull****.
    3) Sweating simply means your body is trying to cool itself. It has little correlation and no causation to being "in the zone".
