High-rise pants and shorts are coming back in style. I've always been averse to them, cause I've always hated the 40's/80's fashion, but what do you all think? I'm starting to reconsider my stance on this

I think they look horrifying, unless you're a 50 year old soccer mom.0

I won't be wearing them, no matter how popular. My natural waist is really high as it is. When I wear high-waisted pants/skirts, the waist band is essentially right under the band of my bra. I look ridiculous!
It may be stylish/trendy, but if it's unflattering - I figure I'm probably better off following other trends. :-)0 -
I dont like them! for some reason they alwas look as if they are in the crack of the person wearing them butt.........0

I think the high waisted styles can be flattering IF they fit properly. They probably won't work as well for someone with a shorter torso though since they seem to elongate the legs the torso would end up looking even shorter. Of course this is just an opinion. The best way to find out is to go find a pair you like and try them on.
Edit: I always picture them more in the 40's style than the 80's.0 -
I think the high rise bikini looks retro and cool..that is all.0

There's really nothing I love more than a high-waisted anything. I've even been sporting high-waisted bikinis for two years now.0

Ugh, curse American Apparel for bringing these back in style.
High-rise skirts or bathing suits can look cute in a retro kind of way, and can be flattering if you have a small waist.
But high-rise pants, for some reason, always make the wearer look like they have a long, flat butt (in my opinion).0 -
Of course they are coming back in style...They were out of style when I was heavy and had the belly, and could have been used to disguise that...Now I'm starting to fit back into the cute stuff they want to go and raise the waistlines?0

I had to Google image it! LOL Looks flattering on some, I have always loved the nautical look on these type shorts but not so much the blue jean ones. I loved the old days fashion come backs modernized personally.0

they're so dorky it hurts my eyeballs0

Most high-rise pants or shorts would look wretched on me because I have such a short torso. But some look good. A pencil skirt with a high waist can look amazing. Dress slacks would probably look good, as long as they look more Katherine Hepburn than Soccer Mom.
But for the most part, my shirts cover the top of my pants and I don't often tuck things in, so it really doesn't matter much. And I know quite a few people who always seem to show asscrack, so I'd like to introduce them to higher waistbands.0 -
You would have to pay me so much to get me to wear anything high waist... No... just no for me!
Plus I have yet to see someone looking good in them *shrugs*0 -
they look ridiculous...and horrible. They completely unsexy everything. My guess is that if it coming back it won't last long...or young "hip" chicks will just look stupid and not hot.0

Because of the way I'm built-with most of my torso weight being carried in the front of my stomach- I have to wear pants that sit at my belly button, if I wear low or mid rise pants my stomach fat pushes my pants down and it causes the top of my pants to roll or worse to fall down, even when I wear the correct size- doesn't help that when I wear those rise pants or makes me look pregnant, because it all is out instead of some of it being tucked away in my pants.0

I have never liked them on anyone but Katey Sagal.
I will not be following this.. "Trend..."0 -

On some women yes they can look good, on most no. It's just about body type.0

I hate the 80s butt, long and flat, that high waisted trousers and shorts give. But high waisted pencil skirts, I love, and they make my not-curvy lower half look way more voluptuous. But I don't have much in the way of hips or butt. I'm also on the short side and short-waisted, so a lot of those looks do swallow me up a bit.0

I like the nautical styles on others.. I couldn't pull it off.
I agree about high waisted pencil skirts though!0 -

Wearing high waisted skinny jeans right now I've got a fairly small waist and a big butt, so they just fit much better than normal/low rise jeans. And I think I look quite good in them, with a shirt tucked in...
But I agree they do make a bit of a long flat butt, ha.0 -
No better way to show off that camel toe. Pull em up as high as they will go ladies.0

I like the shorts and skirts bcuz I think they make my legs look longer, I hate my short legs!0

Not on this short-waisted girl.0
