  • Well as we are all trying to figure out what works best for us, my advice is come here and come here often. I lost my way recently because I quit logging and quit checking in with people who were making me accountable for my actions. The community on this site is awesome. So make friends and stick with it. Remember there is no such thing as a "cheat day".

I would recommend going to the Scoobysworkshop accurate calorie calculator. Its a free website. It is really accurate. You can tailor your goals there. I love it because I'm short at 5 foot 3, but eat 1750 to 1800 calories a day and am still losing about 2.5 pounds a month. I would rather lose slow and have a lifestyle I can maintain when I'm where I want to be. Good luck with your goals!

Mind if I join? I am 5 feet 164 lbs, 40 lbs overweight and NEED to lose.I was active in 2010-2011 lost weight then life and death got in the way. Gained it back and more. I am looking to be accountable and am making today the first day of the rest of my life. I am on many meds that interfere in weight loss (steroids, cancer meds, etc) but not making excuses. Just life getting in my way. Now fat is in my way and making me angry so am on a mission to lose this weight. Exercise is difficult when it is cold out (breathing) and the gym is 20 mi away. I live in the country. Hubby got a treadmill for me and it is used as a coat rack as it is upstairs and hard for me to get to. Son-n-law is coming to visit for a week so I am going to ask him to help get it downstairs for me so I see it and use it every day.
I do not know how to friend people yet so if someone can show me I will add who would like me to.

I am 51 years old and have battled my weight my entire life. Joined Weight Watchers the very first time in the 8th grade -- and have joined and rejoined many times over in the last 30 years. You name the diet, I have probably tried it. I have lost and gained, lost and gained. Diets made me feel restricted and if I knew I could not have it I wanted it more. I got to the point where I did not want to have to "check in" with anyone anymore! I became accountable to myself. I joined myfitnesspal in January 2013. As of today I have lost 36 lbs. I track everyday and exercise 5-6 times per week - 30 minutes on the elliptical and weights. The weight loss has been slow but steady. I have totally changed not only my lifestyle but my families as well. My 17 year old daughter has lost 22 lbs. just by watching me change my ways of eating and adding in exercise. If there is a food item I really want then I have some of it but add it into my daily calories. However, when you start to lose the weight eating healthy starts to become natural and your cravings for the "bad" stuff really do go away.

Myfitnesspal is the best thing that has happened to me. Good luck on your weight loss journey -- you can do it!!!
