Shaved heads

Guys who keep their heads shaved...not just buzzed, but completely shaved...cue ball/Kojak level of shaved...

HOW? Give me some tips, because this shaving with a razor approach every couple of days is a real PITA.

Maybe some kind of elaborate mirror setup for the back (as opposed to my "keep blindly hitting it until it's smooth" approach)? An electric razor/shaver? Pay someone else to do it?

There has to be a better/easier way...

    Shaved it once, regrew within 2 days. Just not worth it.

    Do not use Nair/Veet hair removal cream. I have witnessed a grown man reduced to a blubbering little girl with it. Unless of course your going for a festive neon red colour :mad:

    This. I can barely use it on my legs much less anywhere remotely sensitive. Maybe check with a barber?

    My advice (from a previously-buzzcut female) is not to shave your head. Personally, I find a completely shaved head rather disconcerting. Very short buzzcuts are much less extreme. Just my two cents, though, to each their own :)

    I've been doing it for a couple months, no real issues here. I'm a bear.

    I shave every two days with a Gillette Fusion, the job becomes tougher if you go longer than two. Starting on edges and working towards the crown. I have some crazy tough hair, so it's multiple swipes in multiple directions to make it smooth and shiny (so I can blind my enemies using the glare of the sun). I don't think any other razor would work for me.

    Afterwards in the shower I bring the razor, later up with shampoo and finish off any rough spots.

    If I let it go 3 or 4 days it's very tough to get through, and will ruin the blade very fast. I usually replace the blade every week, when I was only shaving my face they lasted almost a month. Whatever you do don't use a dull blade, if there's any pain afterwards - razor isn't working.

    I know some guys put some moisturizing cream on afterwards, but I'm lacking girly genes in my DNA and believe that bacon grease is the only acceptable moisturizing substance men should use. Don't use it myself only because I don't want my dogs following me around everywhere I go.

    When I was in the service, I just did it in the shower. A nice razor, good lathering, and a lot of moisturizing afterwards.

    Gillette Fusion is my razor of choice already. I'll try the every one or two days approach and see how it goes. Otherwise, I'll go back to my buzz every month plan.

    Rogsman does the exact same thing I do.

    I've been shaving my head for about 14 years. While it seems like it may be tedious, you are really saving yourself a lot of time. It takes me 10 minutes every other day, and that is all of the time I ever have to invest. No hair care products, no barber shops, and no primping in front of the mirror throughout the day...

    I use one of those fogless mirrors in the shower, get a nice good lather, and use the Gillette Fusion on my head. I usually shave it every one to two days. The first time shaving it seemed to take forever. Now, it takes hardly any time at all.

    my colleague just wet shaves it with a bic in the shower every morning, says it takes him 5 minutes....

    Look at getting a Headblade. I love it. Shave it daily so it comes off easy with less nicks. I rarely nick myself anymore.

    I use a headblade (headblade.com) in the shower with bodywasg every 2 days without a mirror using feel. Takes me less than 5 minutes.

    I shave every day, sometimes twice a day, if I am going out. Been doing it for 30 years. I put a mirror in my shower. Takes about 2 minutes. It's like any other habit.

    2 Minutes is a small investment to be this pretty.

    This makes me glad that hair loss is not in my family genes. Besides, I've been in enough accidents and a few fights when I was younger. My bald head would probably look like a Topographic map.

    If you haven't been shaving it long....it gets easier and quicker.. You'll be able to do it by feel alone

    For me, I just use a fusion,....adds only a couple of minutes to my morning routine..

    My paternal grandmother was prone to (benign) cysts on her head. As she got older her hair started to thin dramatically. Her head looked like a relief map of the Andes.

    No way is this approach time-saving...not compared to my previous routine which was to buzz/#1/#2 guard it every 4-6 weeks. In between, I did absolutely nothing to it...at all.

    That said, I prefer the completely shaved look.

    (And did someone actually have a post removed from this thread while I was gone? Wow...I never would have expected this thread to be that controversial.)

    And thanks to everyone for the tips. I think I'll try the mirror in the shower approach.

    Oh, and yeah, I have plenty of scars and my head is giant/weirdly square-shaped, but meh, whatever. :drinker:
