Getting my head right.

Hi everyone.
Im a on again off again dieter, my lowest weight has been 74kgs, and my highest 92 or above (to scared to get on scales!)
my question or post if for support/ideas about getting my head into the diet game.

My husband normally works FIFO (fly in fly out) 5 weeks on/off. he is now studying full time for 12 months in another state. i have 2 kids 10yo and 3yo.
So im a FULL time mum. We did get visits from Dad once a month for the weekend, but that is not much.
I am finding myself emotionally eating from stress to boredom, to frustration to loneliness to sadness, you name it i feel it and eat it.
my weight is creeping up and up!
how do i change my emotional state, or change my habits so that im not eating my emotions..
i try to diet for about a week, and then get fed up and go back to the sugary snacks again.
HELP!!!

  • I had/have a similar problem. I would eat just because it was there or because I'd gotten so used to eating when I was bored that I couldn't think of anything else to do. Try doing something with your hands, like putting together a puzzle, sewing, writing, etc. That's helped me. Good luck!
  • Stress eating is tough but common. You have to find another habit to release stress. For me it's exercise. The more upset or stressed I am the harder I work out. Usually when I'm done I'm so tired I'm not doing anything else.

    But that's just what I do. I also don't have kids to worry about. Find what works for you but you need a substitute outlet for your emotions.
  • Wow, that sounds really tough. I was a single mom once upon a time and I found then that I actually was more selfish and took time for myself. I don't do that as much now that I am married. He has a way of convincing me it is more fun to watch TV or go out to eat than to exercise. I am working on stress eating myself. If you find an answer let me know. If you incorporate the kids into exercising with you, that would be great for them and it would get you out there moving. Then instead of eating you guys can do fun things like frisbee golf (seems like it would be fun LOL).
