Hmm, I've never wrapped anything in foil to go in the crock pot. I would do your meat and seasoning with broth and then toss in potatoes, onions, and carrots. You could do those just raw and stew it all up and mmmmm :)

Also, do you use crock pot liners? I LOVE these things! http://cdn.frugalcouponliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/reynolds-slow-cooker-liners.jpg

They are usually by the plastic bags and foil at the grocery store and they make cleaning so easy. That's the reason I use my crockpot 24/7!

I put my potatoes and veggies right in with meat, I have my husband add them at noon and we eat about 5 pm. with lots of liquid. I don't wrap them at all. I will add onion, carrots, celery. but you can add what you like.

When I roast chicken in the crock pot I save some of the juice to put over the meat later to help the dryness.

Use your programmable probe thermometer and set it to automatically start warming your dish instead of a continual cooking cycle ~ if you continue using chicken breast. Chicken breast ~ does not have enough connective tissue or fat to retain moisture.

@Potatoes ~ You could roast them that way. Just be sure to prick them first. And I would try a low dial for 6 to 7 hours. Depending on the size of potatoes ~ you may need more time. I would to a test@5hrs though.

Try to do chicken recipes that require shredding the chicken after it's cooked. Like I'll put four chicken breasts (even frozen!) in the crockpot with an Indian sauce or salsa over top (lots). Then when I come home I take two forks and shred the chicken. It absorbs the sauce almost instantly. Serve over rice or on its own.

I personally haven't cooked it in the crockpot with foil, but there are recipes online for them. Here is one with some reviews. Wouldn't hurt to try. :)

I understand what you're asking, and yes, I have seen recipes for potatoes wrapped in foil and baked in the crockpot. I've never done it myself, but I think it would work if you let them cook all day.

I've seen one where they wrapped the potaotes in foil and sat a whole chicken on top to roast but haven't tried it.

I also haven't tried it, but saw a recipe recently where the veggies were in foil on top of the roast. I don't see why it wouldn't work - it's heat. May affect the texture some - like the difference of baking a potato at 325* instead of 400*....shouldn't be a big deal. I'd be curious to hear your results. :)

Yes you can use foil. I recently tried butternut squash with foil in the crock pot and it turned out great. Best part I didn't have to mess with trying to cut it up
