Yes I wear trainers when I lift at home! I also did when I was doing Insanity.

Yes. I do because I don't want to get shin splints, or do any damage to tendons as well as protecting my feet. It may not hurt now but it will down the line. I guess it's personal preference, but I would recommend asking your physician.
  • I prefer using shoes, but I usually do my workouts when my baby is sleeping so I don't wear them (it's quieter barefoot).

YES - if its high intensity like insanity or turbofire you really need them. If I am lifting or doing lower impact stuff I sometimes dont, but I do feel a bit safer wearing shoes - ouch lol

    I dont,

But then again I hate shoes and walk around barefoot as soon as I can.
Which since working from home is everyday!

    Yay the FREEDOM!

I didn't when I was younger & ended up having my ankle reconstructed twice ... Highly recommend wearing shoes to save yourself from 17 months straight on crutches, having your 12 year old daughter dress you for a year & 3 1/2 years of PT!

I always wear shoes unless it's something like yoga or pilates. I have terrible knees and flat feet and I need the support of shoes if I'm going to jumping around and stuff.

I didnt at first but found I was getting a lot of ankle pain so I now do. I also find it easier to planks and things like that with trainers on :)

    Hey there,
No shoes or socks for me. I do all my home workouts barefoot.

I did Insanity barefoot since I feel more free when I do so and bec I workout on the 2nd flr it gets really noisy downstairs LOL, but after some weeks I found that my ankles were hurting. I had to stop for a week and when I went on with the program I wore trainers again. Now, I only do barefoot if the workout doesnt require any jumping/hopping :D

I prefer to wear socks rather than go completely barefoot, don't ask me why. No shoes though, my trainers are used for running outside, don't want to wear them inside on the carpet.

Although I've considered getting some simple pumps, just for more traction...

What a great topic! I wear shoes for certain exercises, like aerobics, and kind of jumping and boxing. But for circuits or floor work, no shoes.

It depends on what I'm doing. Because I have laminate floors, some sort of rubber soled shoe is necessary for avoiding slipping during many workouts, but not all. Also, for anything high impact there needs to be some sort of padding between you and the ground--either your shoes, or some sort of floor mat. Doing plyo-type workouts on bare feet on hardwood floors, bad idea. Messed up knees and ankles.

Barefoot.. also one of the reason for that.. its not really in our culture to wear shoes which you walk in outside to wear at home.. in my mind it just feels dirty..

I do except for when I'm doing yoga. Otherwise my feet, ankles, & back hurt too much the next day!

Yes, I feel it gives my feet and ankles extra support,

However, when I workout with my trainer at her gym, I never wear shoes...

I do, but I don't think everyone has to.
It's like running, some people are really into the barefoot thing, I however don't think I could ever do that. I need the support.

I normally wear my shoes because I do workouts downstairs on the hard floor. A few weeks ago I had to move upstairs on the carpet so I thought I'd just wear my socks. Bad idea. After a couple days I started having pains in my one foot and my hip. It got so I could barely walk on that foot. I wondered if it was the jumping in my barefeet and starting wearing my shoes again. Pain gone.

No, unless I'm doing burpees or pushups.

I don't. That's what I'm used to (strict no shoe rule in my house)!
