Home DVD Workouts - Do you wear shoes?
Replies

It depends on what I'm doing. Because I have laminate floors, some sort of rubber soled shoe is necessary for avoiding slipping during many workouts, but not all. Also, for anything high impact there needs to be some sort of padding between you and the ground--either your shoes, or some sort of floor mat. Doing plyo-type workouts on bare feet on hardwood floors, bad idea. Messed up knees and ankles.0

Barefoot.. also one of the reason for that.. its not really in our culture to wear shoes which you walk in outside to wear at home.. in my mind it just feels dirty..0
-
thanks all, next home workout with shoes on0
-
I do except for when I'm doing yoga. Otherwise my feet, ankles, & back hurt too much the next day!0
-
Yes, I feel it gives my feet and ankles extra support,
However, when I workout with my trainer at her gym, I never wear shoes...0 -
Usually barefoot0
-
I do, but I don't think everyone has to.
It's like running, some people are really into the barefoot thing, I however don't think I could ever do that. I need the support.0 -
I normally wear my shoes because I do workouts downstairs on the hard floor. A few weeks ago I had to move upstairs on the carpet so I thought I'd just wear my socks. Bad idea. After a couple days I started having pains in my one foot and my hip. It got so I could barely walk on that foot. I wondered if it was the jumping in my barefeet and starting wearing my shoes again. Pain gone.0

No, unless I'm doing burpees or pushups.0
-
I don't. That's what I'm used to (strict no shoe rule in my house)!0

Sometimes I have to because I sweat so much my floor gets too slippery to keep doing stuff barefoot. Also, if the workout calls for jumping or stepping on resistance bands, I wear them too. (Have you ever snapped the bottom of your foot with one of those? All I gotta say is OW)0
-
yes, i slip on the carpet when doing certain things otherwise0
-
Nope.0

I do Focus T25 barefoot on carpet. No problems so far.0
-
I do, but I need to wear orthotics...0
-
I do, my husband does not. I need to, though, because of a leg problem.0
-
i don't wear shoes on carpet, but do wear shoes when working out on hard wood floors.0
-
I don't, even with the jumping and stuff.
I did gymnastics as a kid and my feet and legs are used to all that jumping and landing with no shoes, so it's never been an issue. I actually roll my ankle more in shoes than barefoot0 -
With the exception of yoga, pilates, and stretching, yes. I wear shoes.0
-
always. most of my workouts are cardio/strength though. i used to not wear any shoes and i ended up with sciatica issues, now i have no problems.0
