No strategy for Thanksgiving same go for Christmas. I got 363 days of the year to worry about instead.0

thanksgiving falls on my training day so regardless will workout that morning then enjoy good food and time with family.0

My strategy was to cook at my house and have both my and my husband's family over. But that is not to be, so again we will be attending 2 full on Thanksgiving meals where I control only one or two side dishes. I will be way over on calories and uncomfortably stuffed, but I'll enjoy the food and time with family. I'll undo the damage later.
BUT, I must say that this:

My strategy:
Eat the foodz, all of it!
I'm doing a 5k that AM.
And the food my aunt serves at Thanksgiving dinner is not that appealing so I will eat my norm T-day meal.
A drumstick, green beans that aren't warm enough, and some mashed potatoes.
Then an hour later, half an apple pie.0 -
Instead of cranberry sauce I'm going to make Raspberry Ketone sauce.which should pair nicely with my green turkey smoothie.
I'm glad I didn't have any sort of beverage in my mouth when I read this comment because it would have been snorted at my laptop! :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:0 -

Lift from 4:30-5:30am. Hoops 6:30-8:00am.
Eat and drink everything in site. 10:00am-??0 -
I'm running a 5k Thanksgiving morning, so I'll be running pretty much every day up until then.
After that... we live far from our families and only my MIL and FIL are traveling in to spend the holiday with us. Life is too short to waste calories on turkey, so we are having crab legs, paired with a nice green vegetable and some potatoes for dinner. My FIL likes apple pie and my son likes pumpkin pie, so that will be dessert--I can easily resist both.
I'm not going to gorge myself, but I will enjoy my meal, and will probably have a nice glass of wine to go along with it.0 -
- I will allow myself 2 bites each of my favorite thanksgiving dishes: pumpkin cheesecake, 3 meat stuffing, apple and raisin stuffing.

My strategy is to say no to everything except for stuffing and pumpkin pie. Then I'll hide in the bathroom to do some jumping jacks.0

It is just one day and I am going to treat it as such. I will eat what I need to fuel my body, workout, drink a couple of beers, and watch some football.
I am not going to sweat it because if I do go over, there is always tomorrow! My changes made to my life will not be destroyed because of one day.

Eat as much Turkey, ham, pot roast as i can, rest for an hour or two, and eat as much dessert as i can0

My strategy is to enjoy the time with my family. I plan on eating everything, I just want to be careful of my portions. My mom's stuffing is the best, but I don't need to eat the equivalent of 8 slices of bread when I'm having the stuffing. I also don't really need to eat every time I walk past the kitchen. Breakfast lunch and dinner is all I need. Eat what I want, just in reasonable amounts, and be ok when I go over my allowed calories for the day. That is my strategy.0

My strategy will be to eat turkey, stuffing, and at least two pies. I like my plan.0

To eat food. This will be my 3rd Thanksgiving since joining MFP. I always just eat small portions of everything I want to try. Then I get seconds of those that I like the most. It's not a strategy per se, just the way I live.0

It is the day after Wednesday. The plan applies, the calerie count applies, the nutritional balance applies. This is one way to understand what "Lifestyle change" really means.
That's crazy. My lifestyle change doesn't include not enjoying traditional feasts a few times a year.
My strategy- I'm cooking my traditional thanksgiving dinner, and I'll be eating in moderation rather than gorging til I want to puke.0 -
I'm going to do the same as I did last Thanksgiving and it seemed to work quite well. I eat one serving of the foods I like the most and that's it. I'm done. No more going back. No loading the plate until its overflowing.
I refuse to deprive myself of the stuffing and gravy and the things I love to eat on Thanksgiving, but I also refuse to overindulge.
And, I'm going to workout hard that whole week.0 -
my strategy:
Going to run/ hit the gym/do insanity in the early AM
Making bread or biscuits and cranberry sauce and probably some sort of appetizer
getting the wine (or 2 or 3) out
driving above to my friends place
opening wine
eating
having wine
eating
having wine
eating
having wine
sleeping
driving home after the wine wears off
Friday: Gym and leftovers mmmmmm.. turkey and cranberry on toast with taters.. mmmmmmmmm

I'm going with a simple approach:
Plate 1: As much meat and vegetables as I please.
Plate 2: Carbs and fats to taste (one helping of potatoes and roll)
One desert Item with ice cream
As much booze as I can humanly handle.

I have been extra good on my eating for the past couple of weeks and plan to remain that way until Thanksgiving, because my uncle makes the best corn bread and I plan to eat as many pieces as I can hold, because I only eat it at family functions. My breakfast will be healthy, usually don't have lunch on Thanksgiving because so busy with the meals, but will have a awesome dinner and some glasses of wine.
Will get back on track the following day. No choice really, my family will be taking home any leftovers, as my house is follows the Paleo lifestyle, some of the meals we will cook is because my family don't follow that lifestyle, so will make them carry it home, so no choice but to be back on track....
Everyone has to do what works for them....have fun everyone and enjoy!!!!!!0 -
I'm having Thanksgiving with my boyfriend and his family (able to bring my 8 year old son, first Thanksgiving with him after the divorce) and we've split the shopping and cooking responsibilities. So I'm making the turkey, stuffing (homemade so I can control what goes into it, think lots of veggies to go with the bread), homemade cranberry sauce with fresh squeezed orange juice and making the homemade gravy (again, it's a control thing as the thickener for gravy can add calories).
Due to not having control over all of it, my plan is to supplement with some exercise before and after dinner. There's a park nearby and I'm going to take my son for a walk, and then play with him at the park. There's also a high school nearby so maybe my son will be interested in doing some running on the track. Earn some activity points to offset such a calorie rich dinner.
The rest of my plan is portion control, limiting to one plate and filling up on turkey more than the fixings.0 -

because eating two bites of anything to me just make me shake my head. if the serving size is 2 go for it- I count my almonds and things- but it's a meal. eat it.... and yes- that was a bit of a hyperbole. I don't give a rats fat butt what she does- to me that just seems...

Thanksgiving is pretty easy for me. I don't like rolls or cornbread much. MIL makes the stuffing with no onion or sage so I pass on that. I'm not fond of pumpkin or pecan pie so those aren't a worry. I'm not fond of green bean cassorole. The turkey is VERY cooked so I will probably pass on it. If she has ham I'll eat a portion of that. There is usually broccoli so I will eat that if available. I pass on baked potatos both sweet and regular. If she has salad I'll be eating that. I might have a portion of jello salad. Usually the food is cooked the way my MIL likes it though so there are certain things I will not be eating. If she had ambrosia or cheesecake or pistachio salad or cranberry orange relish or any of MY favorites I might be in trouble but she doesn't so I'm good to go.0
