    No wonder people are fat.
What's an evm..?? Going to have to google that lol.

LOL I was going to ask the same thing.

Same here. (The only thing I will eat at McD's is their hot cakes)

Lets say I had a deluxe quarter pound no cheese, no mayo (this is how I order burgers), med fries AND a Mc Rib.

    Calories: 1530
    Carbs: 134g
    Fiber: 11g
    Fat: 63g
    Protein: 53g

I could totally fit that in and not be over my TDEE (2500) and eating over you TDEE is what makes you fat.

Hmm, so what you're saying is I can eat as many calories of fat a day as long as I am under my TDEE? So Crisco all day long wont make me fat as long as I am under TDEE?

Not sure I agree with the math here... there is more to it than just TDEE.

Do you think I would gain fat if I ate only 3000 calories of veggies a day?
My question had more to do with what you would do the rest of the day having eaten 1500 calories in one meal.

OH! I get it! lol. Are they good? I've never even seen one up close. I'm a purist with McD. If I'm going to eat it (once in a blue moon) it's a burger, either two cheese burgers or a big mac. Nothing more. Nothing less. (I'd say the last time was in an airport about 3 years ago.

I completely get the math and science of calories in, calories out, and that no one is forcing the McRib down anyone's gullet. But the average knucklehead is going to fall for this gimmick and eat not only his or her large sandwich, fries, and sugary coke, but the McRib as well because "it's only a dallar". 90% of the people walking into a McDonald's aren't as aware as we are. McDonald's counts on ignorant people for it's main draw. If that were not the case, they would be out of business for sure.

    Mmmmm, McRib....

Yikes. I have got to show this to my husband. Don't care for the McRib, but I do love those damn fries. So flipping delicious they should be illegal. But it's good they aren't because I'd just end up breaking the law anyway.

This is what your fries looked like before they went through the cutter.

I love the McRib, and I don't care who knows it! In fact, I've always subscribed to the following, which I believe I got from Beavis and Butt-head: "If it's bad for you, why do they call it 'food'"?

[Yes, I take nutritional advice from cartoon characters. Got a problem with that? :grumble:  ]

Do a search on the forums for McDouble Down. It's not fast food that makes you fat. But in all honesty, that McRib looks hard to stomach.

As the inventor of the McDouble Down, I feel I have to weigh in on the McRib.

    Meh.

Actually, maybe the McRib would be enhanced with bacon and McChicken patties as buns.

People are not fat because of McDonald's running a winter special.

I think you like the McRib!

I absolutely hate McDonald's. It is a poor excuse for food. That doesn't change the fact that McDonald's doesn't make people fat.

Yes, if you eat over your TDEE for an extended period of time, you would get fat.

    3500 calories = 1 pound of fat

So if your TDEE is 2500 calories, and you eat 3000 calories daily, in one week you'd gain a pound. Fat is stored energy. Calories are a unit to measure energy. Extra energy that is taken in is going to be stored in the body, as fat.

You do realize that they don't slaughter the cow right there in the back right? They have to freeze it and shipped it, it's just frozen.

Oh yes McDonalds will make you fat if you eat it! If you don't work(it)out or you don't work it in. So yeah a little of both.

McRib is not "just a fatty cut of meat" though. Its remnants of other meat processing and stabilizers and flavor enhancers mushed together and formed into a "patty" in all its styrofoam-like pre-cooked glory. Remember "pink slime"? Yeah. If you burn the calories or work it in, you can sure work it in and be "fine". However, I know I dont feel "fine" after eating them, and the MSG and stabilizers and flavor enhancers and colors are not really something I'd prefer to consume anyways, and I dont know which one(s) exactly has an effect on me. Maybe if you aren't sensitive to MSG you won't have any perceived issues eating this, and you probably wouldn't if you didn't eat a lot of it, but there is plenty of reason for repulsion to this kind of food that isn't resolved by "just work it in".

    1. Your body composition would probably suck, but yes.

    2. For health, yes there is more to it than just TDEE, which is why I listed protein and fiber there. That meal actually has a decent amount of both.

    3. Yes and you'd be bloated as hell.

It is your body, but I would suggest staying away from the raw chicken breast.

People are fat because they make bad choices. Unless someone puts a gun to your head and makes you order an EVM and a McRib, you're the one to blame.
