So far the plan is:
Turkey
Sausage stuffing
Mashed potatoes
roasted brussel sprouts
*plus gravy and cranberry sauce
Last year we did cornish game hens... Yum!0 -
We already had our big Thanksgiving. On Thursday my oldest will come home and it will be just us. I have turkey already roasted and frozen in broth. I will fix it with the homemade egg noodles that are also in the freezer and will serve those over mashed potatoes. Not sure about dessert just yet, but probably pecan pie.0

How cool and beautiful that you guys already had your "Thanksgiving" I LOVE that you guys chose to observe/celebrate Thanksgiving when y'all jolly well feel like it, rather than being a "slave" to tradition and the dictates of society...you ROCK!
I hope you and your beloved have the best time ever with your son Thursday :drinker:0 -
Whatever my mom cooks. Mm.0

I'm hosting...wish me luck, lol. I'm making:
Turkey roasted w/ butter (cheesecloth method), fennel, onion, lemon, garlic, rosemary and thyme
Yukon Gold mashed potatoes
Mashed sweet potatoes
Roasted Brussels sprouts w/ bacon
Green beans w/ red onion, garlic and parmesan cheese
White dinner rolls (I have a weakness for the ultra-cheap brown-and-serve ones from our local grocery store, lol)
MIL is making sweet potato muffins and my mom's making cranberry relish and sausage stuffing
Appetizers will be cold shrimp cocktail and port wine cheese and crackers
Desserts are (frozen...hush, don't judge) apple pie with vanilla ice cream and homemade salted caramel sauce, and (not just completely scratch-made but my very own recipe, ladies and gentlemen) sweet potato cheesecake with spiced brown butter crust and candied pecans on top.
And wine...lots of wine....
Thanksgiving is about portion control for me. If I at least taste everything and eat just about at maintenance for that single day, I will have exceeded my personal expectations and goals for the holiday.0 -

:smooched: :smooched:0 -
My mom's making her usual dinner of the typical thanksgiving foods.
My boyfriend is making this delicious garlic Penne pasta treat to bring over and black berry wine!
I am treating the day like I would any other though and not dabbling in all of the food... but will spend the day with those I love and am thankful for anyhow!0 -
