I'm hosting...wish me luck, lol. I'm making:
Turkey roasted w/ butter (cheesecloth method), fennel, onion, lemon, garlic, rosemary and thyme
Yukon Gold mashed potatoes
Mashed sweet potatoes
Roasted Brussels sprouts w/ bacon
Green beans w/ red onion, garlic and parmesan cheese
White dinner rolls (I have a weakness for the ultra-cheap brown-and-serve ones from our local grocery store, lol)
MIL is making sweet potato muffins and my mom's making cranberry relish and sausage stuffing
Appetizers will be cold shrimp cocktail and port wine cheese and crackers
Desserts are (frozen...hush, don't judge) apple pie with vanilla ice cream and homemade salted caramel sauce, and (not just completely scratch-made but my very own recipe, ladies and gentlemen) sweet potato cheesecake with spiced brown butter crust and candied pecans on top.
And wine...lots of wine....
Thanksgiving is about portion control for me. If I at least taste everything and eat just about at maintenance for that single day, I will have exceeded my personal expectations and goals for the holiday.0 -
Lentil loaf, mashed potatoes, garlicky collard greens, cranberry sauce and a raw chocolate pie!
What a wonderful and super terrific meal plan, sounds positively yummy and super healthy too...go girl!
:smooched: :smooched:0 -
My mom's making her usual dinner of the typical thanksgiving foods.
My boyfriend is making this delicious garlic Penne pasta treat to bring over and black berry wine!
I am treating the day like I would any other though and not dabbling in all of the food... but will spend the day with those I love and am thankful for anyhow!0 -

OMG this is so good! I need gluten free graham crackers to make this now!!0 -
Anything and everything. My goal this year is to be aware of what I eat and choose what I put into my mouth with informed knowledge. I won't deprive myself but I want to avoid the mindless eating. If I choose to eat something it will be a CONSCIOUS choice. What's the worst that can happen? I gain a pound or two for a few days? I know how to make it go away and I plan to enjoy a day of good food. Heck, I may even have a glass of wine, or 5! As far as menu plans, I'm going to a friend's house so their menu will be a surprise. I'm assuming turkey and stuffing. I am contributing homemade cranberry sauce and pumpkin cheesecake.0

I'm bringing the following to my sister's house:
Baked mashed sweet potatoes with just a teeny bit of salt and a lot of black pepper.
This dip made from greek yogurt by Oikos - French onion dip / with some gluten-free crackers (for my momma)
Low sodium turkey bacon wrapped portobello mushrooms0 -
Turkey with orange slices stuffed under the skin
homemade stuffing
biscuits
cranberry sauce
gravy
individual mac and cheese loafs
pumpkin pie
homemade whipped cream
special secret recipe vegetable casserole that any man would kill for0 -
Gourmet, homemade pizza and lots of wine! Yeah... we're non-traditional. :laugh:0
