    The word Ginger has roots in racist anti-Irish slang from what I hear. For better or for worse. I think it's funny how many of my super liberal friends who are the first to call things racist will say Ginger without thinking twice. :) haha. Only gingers can use the word ginger.

    Red hair, green eyes, pale and freckles here. I've never been called a ginger before either. Odd. However, I was compared to Jessica Rabbit a few weeks ago. LOL. :tongue:

    I adore redheads. I do! Sadly my color is not real, but my hairdresser insists that nature got it wrong. ;)

    As a child I was reddish blonde however over time the hair (on my head, otherwise still red!) has dulled in colour so I 'help it out'. I like to say I am correcting it back to it's natural colour.

    Wow big response, thanks again. More than I thought, we are a mighty few. Yes we've never had a suntan & people may never replace tall dark & handsome with tall pale & ginger. But hey ho.

    As I said before I didn't expect so many replies & I'm not arrogant enough to think you all want to follow me. If you do send me a request, because it's hard decipher if you do or are just an MFP redhead responding to the topic.

    I'm blue eyed. Most redheads I know personally have brown eyes though.

    Bright red hair when I was born...much to the pleasure of my ginger father. Sadly it eventually went blond and then into the reddish brown that is now. The beard comes in pretty red, though.

    Natural red-head here. I don't hear the term "ginger" much here in the U.S.

    I usually refer to myself as Auburn, since my hair is more reddish-brown, not really, really red. I have plenty of freckles to match. Brown eyes, not blue or green. I get all this from my mother's Scottish/Welsh genes. My father is Italian, but I didn't get any of his olive skin, so I need to stay out of the sun!
