Homeopathy?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any one here uses homeopathic methods or other natural health methods in their day-to-day lives. I've researched a few things, but would love to get some more ideas.

I'm picking up some homeopathic items tonight, mainly for my sinuses and allergies. Other than that, I've started doing dry brushing and have tried detox baths although I don't know if I did them properly.

Thanks!

Lynn

In the spa I go to they have a "salt room". It's literally completely covered in salt from wall to ceiling. Apparently sitting in there for 30 minutes or so is amazing for allergy/sinus pressure relief. I haven't tested it because I'm not an allergy sufferer. It could be worth looking into though!

Sure. Burn some incense and shake some crystals over your body. I hear that you'll lose weight and cure cancer too. smh

I know one person who used homeopathic treatments successfully for allergy and sinus probs. Short course of treatment and no remission. I think he was more amazed than anyone! Worth trying maybe. I've never done homeopathy myself but I would give it a go if I felt it might be useful. It's low cost if you buy over the counter treatments.

There is absolutely zero evidence that homepathy has any efficacy above placebo.
Waste your money if you want on magic sugar pills.

I make all my own skincare and cleaning products, but I haven't ventured into medicine type stuff. I prefer my good old aspirin or tylenol! I'll sometimes have some tea to relax me or if I have a headache, but never for sinuses. My husband said that a neti pot helps him (he just uses water without the salt).

Exactly. Homeopathy is a total scam.
But then again, so are fortune tellers, but people throw lots of money their way. So go for it.

As an herbalist, I want to caution you on asking anyone to *throw* out a suggestion. Please take into consideration any food/medicine/plant allergies including sensitivities to those, current medical conditions, medications both over the counter and prescribed, supplements, etc. It's a long list.

Make sure that what ever you take does not have an adverse reaction to any meds, etc that you currently take.

I would suggest that you try a neti pot or the NeilMed squeeze bottle to help flush any allergens left in your nasal passages. Make sure that you use distilled water and the prepared Sinus Rinse Packet.

    From the website:

"Each SINUS RINSE™ packet contains a preservative-free mixture of sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate that is pH balanced and has a purity level 99% or higher. The packets are easy to dispense and contain enough mixture to make 240 mL (8fl oz) of saline solution. Thus you have a large volume available to perform a true nasal rinse. The solution made with the SINUS RINSE™ packet will not burn or sting because it is pH neutral. "

I make my own tinctures, salves, teas, etc. so that I can help my family and myself. I've been studying herbs and their medicinal properties for many years. So, just please be careful. Something that works for someone else may not work for you and could possible exasperate your symptoms.

BTW- I'm glad you're doing some of your own research on this. You will find that there are quite a few wonderful options out there for you. Just ignore the negative comments from other people. LOL

You know it's just water, right?

You know it's called 'alternative', because the stuff that actually works is called 'medicine', right?

Depends. Do you believe that water has memory? Do you believe that if you make a solution of something, say arnica, and dilute it with water until it is one trillionth of a part? That the water will remember this but conveniently forget all the poo and dead bodies it will have had in it? And that this "solution" will cure your allergies?

If so you have worse problems than hay fever.

Do you take a substance that would cause the face of a person with good skin to break out or wrinkle, then mix it with water or alcohol, shake it up, and take a little bit of that solution and add it to a lot more water or alcohol, and keep repeating that until you've diluted the original substance to 1 part in a million or more parts of water or alcohol, so that you almost certainly don't have any of the original substance in the product you're using for skincare? If you don't, your skincare product is not homeopathic.

I love this, it sums up homeopathy. OP, you might get better results with a shaman hovering over your body, shaking a feathered rattle. But people believe what they want to believe, no matter how much it flies in the face of commom sense and logic. Otherwise, there'd be no deity worship and organized religions.
