knee brace/support

OK i'm back at it. I'm going to lose all my weight again. HOWEVER I need to find a knee brace/support. Thing is my thighs are LARGE so i need one bigger than an L/XL. Where do I get one?

How bad is your knee issues?? I would suggest going to an Ortho doctor and see about getting fitted for custom knee brace if necessary.... I have Grade 3 OA which is bone on bone and have a torn ACL in my left knee and have worked with DonJoy brace rep for custom OA braces now for the last going on 3 years...... Beyond that there are online brace companies that you may find something at..... I have ordered a few things from betterbrace.com over the years.... Best of Luck0

If you have anything other than just needing some additional support, you should probably consider professional evaluation, and if you have an injury you might benefit from some physical therapy. I had a baker's cyst about 2 years ago that came about because I ignored a little tweak, and just wore a brace. After 6 weeks of PT, I was well on the way to recover (although it took another 6 months to be totally healed).
If your knee doesn't require professional attention, there are some braces that are adjustable that might work (they are black and have straps that you wrap around your leg above and below the knee). You can get them at most drug stores.

I agree with seeing a specialist. I thought I needed a knee brace for many years. After seeing a specialist and strength training I now feel that the brace did me more harm than good. Good luck!0

Agree with EDavenport. Don't mess with your joints - especially knees. They are pretty poorly designed as it is. If you are female (didn't look) and overweight (ok, I'm an ill-informed loser) it would be best to get an Ortho and/or PT involved.0

I know when I ran 2 years ago I just used a brace that was like elastic just to support it. Made it feel better.0

Agree with everyone else who suggests having an evaluation. I spent my whole adult life thinking I just had "bad knees". Every time i tried to exercise more than easy walking I would experience pain. Finally, at age 51, I went to see a sports medicine doctor who prescribed physical therapy. Almost 1 year later I am mostly pain free, and able to hike, run a little, do weighted squats and yoga poses that I could not have done before.0

You can buy neoprene and heavy duty elastic support in the drug store.
If that's all you need, more power to you. I had a torn meniscus for years and those things worked until they didn't. You'll know when you need more specialized help.0 -
Also, weight loss in and of itself is going to do wonders for your knees.
