Ridiculous/laughable things I've heard.

Here are a few things in my lifetime I've heard and wondered why people actually believed this:
Apparently, if you put Purell hand sanitizer in your eyes, it'll cure pinkeye.
Babies (especially, newborns) cry a lot because they're experiencing growing pains while growing.
Your nerve endings are located behind your eyebrows and they cause you to sneeze each time you pluck your eyebrows because they're connected to your sinuses.
Mustard comes from crawfish (hence, the yellow stuff you see when you peel them).

I have a ton of those from some interns I have. But just yesterday at grocery store I overheard the manager talking to one of his supervisors recasting one of the employees calling in because her phone was dead.0

Eat low fat everything and you'll lose the fat and see those abs. Crunches don't give you the 6-pack.
6 meals a day for a ridiculous metabolism.
Of course, all the stuff about raspberry ketones and the acai berry diet.

Muscle weighs more than fat.....LOL
It just takes up less space but a ton of steel and a ton of feathers weighs the same, a TON.0 -
Don't eat anything after 3 pm, and then even if you eat a crazy amount of food between waking up and 3 pm you will lose LOTS of weight.
There's no reason for people to get married if they don't plan to have children together.
It's ok to have kids when you are on drugs, under eighteen, and/or in severe poverty because "Jesus will find a way to raise your baby right"0 -

My mom always told me growing up that I would only be able to eat one meal a day in order to keep the weight off since I am so short. I hate my mom!!!0

My favorites:
Your uterus will fall out if you run a marathon
women can't lift heavy weights
Women shouldn't exercise when pregnant, especially lifting
If you lift weights as a woman you will bulk up
Cardio is the only way to burn calories
Eliminate carbs and you will lose weight

The worst is 'cut out carbs and you'll lose weight'. Such a load of crap. You may drop loads of weight to begin with but carbs will sure as hell find you again. If you're working out regularly you NEED carbs; you just have to make sure that you're eating a balanced diet and that you're eating good carbs!!!!0

Yep. I'm never even having children (by my choice), and I still find that stuff disturbing and weird.
I've also heard a lot of stupid things among my own (childfree by choicers) like having kids will result in your marriage failing, going broke, ruin your career, and you'll pee a little every time you move or laugh. Yeah that stuff has happened to some moms. Not all!0 -
Here's a few more memorable things I've heard:
An ex once told me that brushing your teeth before going to bed is actually bad for you.
I was told by someone I went to school with that having sex on your monthly will cause it to stop by a day or two.
And, I was told by my ex fiancée's sister that the reason why my newborn son (at the time) cries at night because he has GERD.
The reason why your hips aren't widening is because you're having bad sex.0 -
Drinking water makes you fat. My host family (including a doctor) in the Republic of Georgia told me this.0

Feel free to correct me on this one, I thought it was ridiculous, but I am not a medica !professional ... My husband told me that eating too much fiber will cause constipation. (My son was 'backed up' the dr said for us to increas his fiber, my husband explained why that was a bad idea)0

To much fiber can cause constipation when you go from low fiber diet to a high one quickly. But if you increase the amount slowly, it shouldn't cause any issues.

a women's fitness magazine had a deadlift to curl move- using 3 lb dumbbells. dont we just LOVE DLing with 6 lbs?!?
that chick peas and garbanzo beans can be used to make delicious desserts, like brownies/blondies. i cant bring myself to try it.
and the worst- the US Government planned 9/11. that infuriates me more than anything.0 -
